College readiness was not a concern with my older kids. I am concerned about my youngest and won’t hesitate to leave if there aren’t big changes next year.
Then maybe you should have looked into a different Charter/Magnet Schools....here is where a few of the students in the top 5 of that list are going.....

They seem to be prioritizing quotas over accomplishment.
I thought they were prioritizing athletes, but with the high number of kids that left 7-9 th grade 2-3 years ago, they made changes in house and decided the school was going to return to its academic roots.
And I have t heard anything about U High and wokeness. But I did hear that St Joes was very woke now

I went to Episcopal and my kids are in the Ascension school system. I am thoroughly impressed by AP.

Went to school there in 9th and 10th grade. Loved it. This was the early 80’s, though.

I’m not sure what you’re getting at. Uhigh prepared my older kids for college. One has graduated and the other is a junior. How could I have known there would be quality issues over the last few years when my youngest entered K 8 years ago?

If you go to the link, there is a "filter" button. You can add the private schools to the rankings. I was impressed that Dutchtown was still in the top twenty in the state.

This is how they defined college readiness
I’m saying that traditionally they didn’t put a lot of emphasis on AP classes. They were more focused on the IB program. I don’t currently have a child in high school but I think they are trying to add more AP classes. Due to fewer offerings than many schools Uhigh may not have as many kids taking those tests, therefore the school’s score would be lower than a comparable school with more AP offerings. That’s how either Wade (then director) or Frank (HS principal) explained this portion of the score to parents a few years ago.
As a parent my opinion is ACT scores and performance in college tell a different story about college readiness than the score from US News.
quote:
College Readiness 30% The proportions of 12th graders who took and earned a qualifying score on at least one AP or IB exam. Earning a qualifying score is worth three times more than just taking.

LA has its own list of school rankings that is more relevant than US News.

Looks like a school literally gets points added based on how many black kids attend the school because of "expectations". That's kinda weird.

Patrick Taylor
Can post for a fact that this school among others are fudging their grades and scores to a) look better and b) get more money.
Patrick Taylor’s last principal Jamie zapico was allowed to leave with full benefits when she was caught red handed and with plenty of proof altering grades and test scores as well as even giving kids A’s and credit for courses they never took.
She should’ve been fired and made an example of but god forbid we embarrass the school or more likely hurt the gravy chain.
The students at Patrick Taylor are not all but mostly not the brightest bulbs. The new principal is a little better but still doing things for grades that I would consider cheating and possibly illegal. Jamie Zapico was DEFINITELY breaking the law and we get to pay her a nice retirement for doing so. Yayyy government

quote:Yeh US News uses factors of wokeness for their rankings
The rankings are based on 5 factors one of which was-
It’s why a lily white upper middle class school like Mandeville ranks low here, but very high when using objective data
Lab school is ranked 7th I believe using test scores

The past two principals of Central Lafourche have moved up and on. The 2nd to last principal was Chris Kimball and he is now assistant Superintendent in Jefferson Parish and I have heard him say out right in meetings that “ if you aren’t cheating you are not trying”. The last principal was Jarod Martin and he is now superintendent of Lafourche parish and he is truly an inspirational leader with little time for excuses and bullshite. He is a former combat vet with several tours in Iraq during the 2nd gulf war. He is very logical so a lot of the entrenched bullshite in public schools hold no weight with him. I worked with both and Martin is far better than kimball in my opinion.
I also know that focusing on providing AP classes that prepare students to pass the AP tests along with dual enrollment classes. This focus along with quality vocational courses that focus on students getting certifications to be work ready coming out of high schools. A school can really raise their rankings by doing this. It ain’t easy and it ain’t cheap but it works well to “game” the whole school ranking stuff.

Math and reading performance rank-
how scores on state assessments compare with US New's expectations given the proportions of students who are black and from low income households.
So a school like Live Oak High School, had the 48th best Math and Reading Scores in the state, but were ranked #243. They were dropped a 195 spots due to "The total minority enrollment is 8%"
Holy shite there is a white penalty?
That’s racist AF.
ETA. Damn there is. Central and Denham have higher graduation rates than some schools ranked above them.
