Upscale driving range + bar/restaurant.

I really think you could put a TG just about anywhere and it would succeed. Never understood why people think NO is any different, what makes TG great is that it attracts non golfers just as much as it does golfers.

The Power Plant seems like the only viable location within the city limits, but I can only imagine how much the asking price would be.

For a BR one, how about on Airline Highway between Barringer Forman and Highland, across from the old driving range? That way it would be right by all of the construction offices out there like Performance, Group, Cajun, ISC, ect.

Another good spot would be on Corporate in one of the few empty areas of open land there by Town Center.

If they wanted the NOLA area, I'd put it on those empty lots near Mardi Gras world (if the space is large enough)

If they wanted to split the difference between the two cities, I'd put it in Gonzales right across from the new Conway Plantation development on LA 44 south of I-10.

NOLA needs one on the site of the old power plant on Tchoups.

This would be a great location. Close to the CBD and neighborhoods with people that actually play a lot of golf. There's a lot of businesses looking to relocate to that area, too.

I think people overestimate the amount of land needed

The one in Katy was not near as big as I expected it to be after reading so many threads saying this

Supposedly they are building their largest one yet in Vegas currently

How's the food and drinks? Charleston, like New Orleans, isn't short on great, local bars and restaurants. I can see the upscale driving range appealing to men and the golfers, I just have a hard time seeing: 1.) The women wanting to go there instead of one of the bars or clubs on King Street 2.) The men who can go play golf or hit at the driving range and relax and enjoy a drink at the clubhouse with the ocean and rivers and other low country by instead of indoor bar.

It just seems like something that appeals more to the Dallas/Houston area.

I went with a group and it was buffet style for us but I thought the food was really good

We had like salmon, salad, ourzo, and some other veggies

Better than normal old bar food

There is a driving range on Kaliste Saloom in Laffyete that would be perfect stop for a TG. They would just need a lot of F-250 parking and tvs to show the UFC fights, maybe even a weight room

Went there last weekend when I was in Houston. That place is incredible and I'd love to have it in between BR and NOLA. It's great for beginners and pros, it's a unique way to teach the game, and it's a ton of fun. Plus they serve good food and drinks

An effort has been made to get them to come by an entity with all of the required resourced and they couldn't even get a call back. No city in La is large enough to be on their radar.

This. I think one could succeed in that area.

That was the same issue with Dave and Buster's, and now, NOLA is getting one. The city tend to be down the line when it comes to placement of things like this, but, generally, it's time does eventually come.

The Power Plant property would be nice, as there is enough room for the development and parking. The only one I've been to is in Katy, which is by itself, but I wonder how it would work inside a larger entertainment development. The convention center is looking at proposals for their land just upriver of where it currently ends, which is near the power plant, and I wonder if all that could be tied together into an entertainment district.

Bulldozing Esplanade mall works too.

i closed on a sale of property for one in San Antonio that's way out on Loop 1604 at I-10. Almost 20 miles from downtown.

It's close to Six Flags and UT-SA though.

r was that just rumor)? Seems like right there you already have most of the work done for you.

Not really at all. They have to excavate a lot of land so it really doesn't matter what the plot of land was previously used for. Under the targets is a tunnel system where the workers can go and check on the sensors and ball retrieval systems. The Allen top golf has a picture of when it was being built and it was at least one story underground.

once you leave downtown charleston, the greater charleston/Mt P/islands areas are MOSTLY (a few cool exceptions) anytown usa with your typical cross-section of suburban just nicer and cleaner than most.
