Yea and I think Taker v Mankind is in the conversation as well....that was a chemistry that just hit it right from the beginning. Also, it includes a match that has probably a top 2-3 most famous spot in wrasslin history and likely he best call of a spot in history as well.

I wasn't a huge wrestling fan but I do remember a broadcast when Flair came out with pictures of him with Savage's girl Elizabeth. That shite was lit

I definitely agree. What I hope they’re all building towards is an Omega/Ibushi inter-promotion rivalry, and it definitely seems that way with Omega collecting AAA, AEW and Impact world titles and Ibushi unifying the top two IWGP titles, making him the beginning of a new lineage.

there's only 1 person taking the AEW Championship off of Omega... and it's "Hangman" Adam Page

That doesn't make sense. The AAA Mega championship is meaningless outside of Mexico, and the TNA/Impact title is less than meaningless.
AEW and IWGP title are widely recognized as world titles. AEW and New Japan could succeed where AWA and NWA failed with Pro Wrestling USA. They don't need meaningless belts for that cross promotional stuff.
From a history standpoint I'd like to see the NWA title come into this fold, but it is even less important than the impact title in 2021.

I will say there's likely a very good reason Omega name-dropped the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kota Ibushi during his promo on IMPACT last night
ETA: but Omega's current gimmick is "belt collector"... so he's already collected the AAA & AEW Championships... next he'll get the IMPACT Championship
the final "jewel" of the collection will be Ibushi's IWGP World Heavyweight Championship

Is AAA even running shows yet?

Everyone wants to see Omega v Rich Swann right???
I think if you wanna do this little Impact thing with the Good Bros that's cool I guess....but once this think opens back up it should be full speed ahead with AEW/NJPW partnership and just leave Don Callis behind.

quote:I've honestly liked Nick Aldis' work with it, he's a good champion but the promtion/name has struggled so much especially during the pandemic. They have been able to come back just this week though so I'm hopeful, plus they've had a very obvious partnership with AEW for several months.

Towards the end of it, I think Omega will have the AEW, Impact, AAA, and NWA titles and Ibushi will have the new IWGP World Heavyweight Championship made from the old Heavyweight and Intercontinental Titles. I think they're on a path to recreate a de facto NWA with pretty much every promotion outside of WWE in an attempt to make a more "legitimate" World Champion. From where that goes I have no clue but hey it seems fun.

I don't like it....Aries did it. Like someone said before AAA and Impact titles are less than worthless right now....if this were 5 years ago...meh may be better.
Just do NJPW partnership and run with that.

This is part of the problem...at some point Impact and AAA are going to want a payoff. There will never be a good time for anyone in AAA or Impact today to beat an AEW talent for the title.

quote:The individual promotions' titles could break off once the story is over, or it could be part of it who knows. And Impact is very aware they will never be the size of WWE, AEW or NJPW at this point so I think their payoff here is the extra eyes and Impact+ subscriptions from AEW fans when Impact and NWA are more or less used as a de facto NXT.

Maybe....I just can't see Cyrus the Virus saying sure you an have a guy take my top title on my PPV without paying me back down the line. I'm not saying they will beat Omega for the AEW title but I could see AEW putting the title on somebody like MJF or Sammy Guevara down the line and having them drop it to Moose or maybe EC3 on an Impact PPV....still not good for AEW business in my eyes.
Now if they are going to consolidate Impact into their fold as a feeder system like NXT then that might not make it so bad, but I think they already have that with AEW Dark....but on the other hand they sure put out some green sons of bitches on Dynamite sometimes.
