4. Oklahoma Disclaimer: Oklahoma City is a cool city. It boasts a very nice, clean downtown, and the residents are welcoming. But that's basically all the entire state has going for it. Eastern Oklahoma is really, really depressing to drive through: one casino after another, surrounded by scrubby trees and dirt that may culminate in the ugliest scenery in the whole country. Then you hit OKC, and after that, it's mile after mile of empty prairie. If you're looking for something in Oklahoma, Texas does it better

What’d you drive straight up 35? OK has some of the most diverse terrain. There’s mountains, plains, hills rivers lakes etc. Beavers Bend is legit. The Wichita mountains are nice. The lakes in the NE part of the state are nice. You definitely don’t know what you’re talking about. Broad brush.

New England in general really is a beautiful part of the country.

9. Indiana

Indiana has the misfortune of being a fairly well-populated state with little to do inside it. Its positives include Indianapolis, the Indy 500, the Hoosier National Forest, and a sliver of coastline along Lake Michigan. That's really it. If you were wondering, the food there sucks and there ain't a dash of spice to be found in that entire state.

Harsh.

But fair.

Trash the Great Plains states all you want but they are probably the only area left in the country where people work hard and take pride in it.

Indiana is one of those states that's probably a pretty good place to raise a family but just not very exciting to go visit. There are a number of them.

That's pretty much word for word what anybody says when asked why they live here.

To be fair that's not a bad reason at all, but I often wish there were more, and I hope I'll be able to afford to retire somewhere else.

Glad to see you’ve never been to SD...

SD is fantastic. Especially the western part of the state.

7. Idaho

Sorry, Idaho, but you're the least interesting and most backwards of the Mountain West states. Boise is cool and up-and-coming, but the rest of Idaho is difficult to access for travelers and honestly has some freakin' weird arse residents. To top it off, there's not much to do here.

This is the worst take I've ever read on Idaho. Literally world class hunting, fishing, backcountry skiing, and kayaking within 2 hours of Boise

What I have found from moving around for work. Find a good job close to a mid size airport. You can enjoy Detroit if you make enough money. State boarders are imaginary lines on a map.

Michigan is another state that a lot of people don't realize how much it has to offer. They have the West Coast, Traverse City, Mackinac Island (no cars allowed; its like stepping into a time portal), and then there's the UP for the outdoorsy types.

It just sucks that it's overshadowed by all of the problems with places like Detroit and Flint.
