Anyone that puts Ruston on their list is either a hometown homer or has never been to Ruston.

Why would anyone go to Natchitoches for pleasure, especially from out of state?

The National Historic Landmark District includes French Creole townhouses, the Minor Basilica with its stained-glass windows, and the 19th-century Kaffie-Frederick General Mercantile, the city’s oldest general store. The meandering Cane River runs south to plantations within the Cane River Creole National Historical Park. These include the 18th-century Oakland Plantation.

It's the oldest settlement in La and the original French settlement.

All of us know we'd take an equal paying job almost anywhere else besides Mississippi or Arkansas.

Left a job paying 10x more with housing included in Singapore to live in Louisiana.

So...not at all.

Louisiana has one of the worst economies in the country. We actually have a negative growth rate despite the population as a whole rapidly growing in states like SC, TN, TX, and others. Even Mississippi is starting to get its shite together and market itself to become more attractive to businesses. They’ve even began to market their coastline very effectively as well. They will surpass us in 20 years, and Louisiana will be left holding our dick and still paying for culcha. If you’re not aware of this already, then no amount of education I can provide will make up for the lack thereof leading up to your adult existence. I’m sorry you’ve never been anywhere else. Truly, I am. And I’m sorry you’re an idiot.

We have some of the greatest natural resources in the continental United States; but our demographics, education system, and political landscape absolutely ruin/ed any shot at Louisiana becoming what it should be. You’re like an example of those small-minded people who have never traveled outside the state, aside from going on your 2-week hitch or Texas for safety training, but will swear Louisiana is the greatest thing ever. Louisiana has some decent people and fun college/pro football scene. That’s about it.

Are you talking just Bawcomville proper or do you include Brownsville and Seigle?

there are dozens of towns that do that way better in superior locations. there's nothing special about Natchitoches.

In Louisiana? No. I'd put Natchitoches' downtown up against any medium to small town in the state.

probably not, but that was in response to a post saying it should be a national tourist destination. that's ridiculous.

The historical aspect of Natchitoches plus the scenic riverfront elevate it to elite status, for Louisiana.
