It is a glorious time to be gluttonous and non-Catholic in South Louisiana. All the burger places are not crowded Fridays for lunch and all the steakhouses are easy to get reservations on Friday night!

I'm going to start a movement that gets every Catholic in the United States into a steakhouse on Fridays during Lent....just to order the fish.

Having no fun defines one or more of the Protestant faiths.

Funny thing is that the catholic church has the same abstinence from meat all year round unless there is some other form of either corporal work of mercy or penance. Most catholics have forgotten about it. The Bishop of the Lake Charles Diocese reiterated it about two years ago and asked all in the diocese to observe it and Ember days as well in reparations for the sexual abuse corruption. It’s a great practice that really requires me to focus on what I’m eating and each time I think about it I’m reminded about praying for the victims and their families.

Unlike protestants, we can drink and dance in public.

I've got nothing against Catholics but I do love that they eat Shrimp poboys and fried catfish as a sacrifice for the Lord

It's the price we pay for being the only candidates for Heaven. Besides, if we eat meat we can just go to confession and it's like it never happened.

Steakhouse Friday is the “great Protestant holiday”?? That’s all y’all got? Going to moderately less crowded steakhouses 7 days out of the year??

Good luck with that.

I'd rather give up eating meat 4 days a week all year than be a Baptist or Protestant.
