Don’t know about not feeling pain...I’m sure he felt that chest exploding when his heart was failing.
"Cardiac arrest" simply means his heart stopped. That cocktail of drugs would have first rendered him unconscious, followed by respiratory failure, and then cardiac arrest.

How can that possibly be an accidental overdose?

Oh I am not dismissing the (likely) possibility that TP knew the right pill mill docs and pharmacists. But at the same time, I would think that someone that famous can work around that process.

Heartbreaking, especially since he had to overcome being a SIDS survivor and all...

I thought he was one of the few who made it out sober and physically safe, not need a transplant, no cancer, no cardiac issues due to coke abuse, etc, etc, etc....
I was wrong, damn

Maybe that was his daily drug cocktail that he was accustomed to, and actually died of an MI or something.

His family said Petty suffered from "many serious ailments" including emphysema, knee problems and a fractured hip.

Would be more surprising if his wasn’t the case.

He had Emphysema, bad knees and a hip fracture that had turned into a full blown break. He was using Fentanyl patches on either his knees or hip, as well as taking pain pills orally. The family feels like it was accidental.
