Toll Road Issues (scam)

Nephew (loser) calls me today because he can't get a new drivers license, says the NTTA (North Texas Toll Authority) has a hold on him.
He three ways me in on a call with an agent/NTTA, she explains that he has $400.00 in un paid toll charges and $450.00 in admin fees related to these fees. Plus one filled with the DPS.
So due to the fees he now has a hold on his driver's license, a hold on getting his truck registered, $450.00 in late fees and a warrant due to unpaid tolls. These people have more power than the IRS
I paid $250.00 and set him up a payment plan with them which he will probably not follow but he is free as of now, Frick these people and always pay your tolls.

If he were honest, he probably got dozens of letters mailed to him that he ignored. Ask him. NTTA and their transaction company, ETCC, mail notices constantly. All he had to do was call and pay the actual toll price without fines and he would be Scott free. He didn't. Lesson learned. Pay up.

Take him to the office by his ear, be good and stern to him while in there, then ask the management to waive the late fees. It'll be two hours of your life, but could save him a few hundred.
