I think I find the idea of reincarnation more comforting than the idea of an afterlife that lasts forever, at least if I couldn’t remember past lives. I remember being young when I first contemplated the idea of forever, and it was kind of terrifying

I've had some crazy conversations reminiscent of this with my niece ever since she was really young. I ask her "how do you know this??" and she says "I don't know, it's just in my brain". O_o

Consciousness is bewildering because it's so difficult to define. We want to define things in terms of cause and effect but come up lacking when considering consciousness.

Instead of reincarnation, a new version of something from the past, I like to think of this particular phenomenon as mind transference. It seems to be more literal than reincarnation. Of course, it's fleeting and fades very quickly as the child gains new experiences but it seems worthy of investigation. I'm glad that UVA is researching it.

My cousin was barely just starting to babble-speak and - while his parents were watching a war documentary - he turned to them and clearly said: When I was an old man, I died in a hole.

My son’s first word was “Nanni”. It’s what he called his sister and we have no idea where it came from, he just started calling her that one day.

I've heard of similar stories. There's been several documented cases of children telling stories about experiences in war. One where the child provided information concerning details of a serviceman killed in WWII only a surviving relative could confirm. It went beyond any possibility of him watching TV or the like. Yes, hoaxes happen, but this one was beyond weird.

I've experienced something much more simple but still odd enough it took everyone back when the child announced it.

He’ll grow out of it.

If you want to retain the memories, start recording this and researching good questions to ask.

Lots of curious stuff around this phenomenon.

Look up Soul Survivor

Local kid that was a fighter pilot that died in WWII

Knew names of squadron members, planes, and Navy ship he was on before he knew how to spell his name

I usually call BS on stuff like this, but I know people who know the family and story is compelling.

When my youngest was 4, she told us that she came from the sky and she remembered watching us paint her room before she was born (we did). She said she would go back one day, but it didn’t mean she didn’t love us.

High level freak out.

Congrats on your ghost son. Ask him if he died in WWII. Put on some big band and gauge his reaction.

When we were preschoolers, my brother, and I, had an imaginary friend named Joe. He drove a Vette.
