You’re still a kid. Overcome, improvise, and adapt. Do more with less. Lower your expectations for a few years. Learn to delay gratification. Nobody gets out of college and immediately lives like they’ve already made it. Build your life first—it ain’t the Great Depression.

Similar situation. Making double or triple the amount of money doesn't get you double the amount of house.

I look at houses today that we could've bought at those interest rates and weep knowing what could've been

Yeah I don’t get the hate. Most boomers I know are on fixed incomes and took a beating back in 08 (or whatever year the stock market tanked). They may not be struggling like younger folks but they aren’t killing it either. And they aren’t immune to inflation.
Add another not very endearing quality to millennials and Gen Z- the perspective that they’re the only
ones experiencing this economy.

I’m mid 30’s with 4 kids (oldest will be 7 soon) in private school/daycare. It’s not easy, but we make it work. With that said my wife and I both have solid jobs and work our asses off every day, and the kids take up as much time/effort as work does. Step 1 is sacrifices, the first money out of our bank account each month is to savings, we squeeze by on what’s left. Looking back we’ve lived under our means since day 1, all our friend have new cars, I’d just brag how my old POS car is still up and going. Fortunately my wife has the same mindset. Is this world perfect, no, but you have to work with what you’ve got and don’t settle, which is why I understand “kids” switching jobs yearly, my wife is on her 3rd job is 5 years, whereas I’ve been treated well (small company) and have been there for 14 years. You just have to find what works and go with it, the problem nowadays is all the “influencing” with social media and keeping up with the Jones mentality, keep up with yourself and you’ll be fine, I promise that new car or house won’t fulfill anything. I kind of miss our old 1600sqft house that we had 3 kids.
