The Battle of First Manassas (First Bull Run in the North) was fought on July 21, 1861, between the Union Army of Northeastern Virginia and the combined forces of the Confederate Army of the Potomac and the Confederate Army of the Shenandoah. The battle was a chaotic affair of piecemeal assaults, mistaken identities, and reckless bravery. While Confederate forces were initially pushed back by the attack Union army, they reformed atop a prominence known locally as Henry Hill where they made their stand against repeated and poorly coordinated Union assaults.
Eventually the Confederates had enough men to launch a counter attack of their own, breaking the Union's right flank, and sending the entire Army of Northeastern Virginia into a general retreat back to Washington, D.C. While the Battle of First Manassas would eventually be dwarfed by far larger battles, this action would for a time be the bloodiest battle fought in American history up to that point. Over the course of the day's fighting some 868 men would be killed in action, another 2,593 would be wounded, and 1,229 would be listed as either missing or captured.

Maybe not. However, there have been a lot of civil wars throughout history. Just saying. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to be specific.

The sun shown bright and clear that day
We all left Washington
To lick the Rebel boys in grey
At the Battle of Bull Run
They came from Pennsylvania and some from Maryland
To see the Rebel boys get spanked by Honest Abe's broad hand
We said we'll run 'em to Atlanta and to Galveston Bay
But they ran us back to Washington and Philadelphia
And Philadelphia
The ladies wore their brightest shawls
The gentlemen were gay
They came to see their Yankee boys WHIP old Virginia
I held my momma's hand and skipped
When a soldier said to me
Would you rather have Jeff Davis' hat or the sword of Bobbie Lee
We said we'll run 'em to Atlanta and to Galveston Bay
But they ran us back to Washington and Philadelphia
And Philadelphia
And then the general doffed his hat and said let's rest a spell
And for the first time we all heard that awful rebel yell
The waters of MANASSAS creek became a ruby red
and many a Reb and Yankee boy lay in the willows dead
We said we'll run 'em to Atlanta and to Galveston Bay
But they ran us back to Washington and Philadelphia
And Philadelphia
A fight locked in the chest of time too horrible to tell
Virginny's true green countryside became a lake of hell
Don't count your chicks before they're hatched
Or you'll work until it's done
Remember yes remember long the Battle of Bull Run
We said we'll run 'em to Atlanta and to Galveston Bay
But they ran us back to Washington and Philadelphia
And Philadelphia

Call it what you wish but the only place there has ever been a civil war on this continent is Missouri.

Should have marched to DC and shown CNN what a real insurrection is.

In point of fact, the American Civil War was not a civil war.

I prefer to call it "The War between the Yankees and the Americans".

I finally decided to start the Ken Burns CW doc. On episode 3 currently and really liking it. I’ve had it for years but finally decided to dedicate some time to it and knock it out.
