California food is more diverse and better cooked than Louisiana food. The amount of Michelin rated restaurants in California compared to Louisiana is just astronomical.

Stop being a food pleb just to stick up for your gumbo and jambalaya

Your name matches your personality. You are one dense mf, and quite inappropriately arrogant.

You missed the point. No one said that California doesn't have excellent cuisine or anything about it's diversity. In all your blathering and insulting, you failed to identify a meal that is quintessentially Californian. Something that originated in California and is known to be associated from your state.

If you had any such meal, perhaps you'd be skeptical about any out of staters who prepared the meal, especially if it's known that the dish in question was often misinterpreted and mislabeled.

Outsiders often assume that a poboy is just another name for any sandwhich, or a sandwhich with fried seafood on it. I'd be willing to bet that's exactly what you thought.

You might even be surprised that in New Orleans, you can get all types of things on a poboy, from fried seafood, to roast beef, to tuna fish salad, etc. What makes it a poboy is the poboy bread. I light French bread that is airy and soft in the middle but somewhat crunchy on the outside.

It's a bread type that's not baked too many places. Most outsiders use a different bread, since bread is almost always something that is baked locally.

Outside of South Louisiana, the things that other places call a poboy is almost always not an actual poboy, even if it is a tasty sandwhich.

And your name matches your swamp trash attitude towards Louisiana food. It's a piece of airy French bread with food in it. Congrats...no matter where it is put together, it's still a Po Boy

This sounds like some inanity that would be spoken by a man who named himself Spaulding Smalls. It's helpful to make sense when you are slinging insults about trashiness.

So, you agree with me?

And you still can't name a California dish/meal?

What's a Louisiana dish? Gumbo is from West Africa and jambalaya is a modification of paella. Settlement in America is so new relative to other areas of the world that everything we cook here is a ripoff of another culture.

I'm not agreeing with you. Sandwiches are sandwiches. If a restaurant in Wyoming wants to put something in between a piece of French bread and call it a Po Boy, so be it. That happens in Louisiana all the time. Places in Baton Rouge don't use actual po boy bread and still call it a po boy. Your argument is just stupid and typical of the "but muh Cajun culcha!" Crowd

In terms of California cuisine, they have pretty much revolutionized how you eat food. You can thank California for Americanized Chinese food, mission style burritos, fast food, American wine, pistachios, avacodos, etc. California is also the vegetable producer of the United States. But that won't matter to you, because "it ain't meemaws gumbo cher'"

You are too stupid for words. Why do you keep saying the same things? I only asked you to name a dish/meal that is KNOWN as a California dish/meal so I could use it as an example, like I did with the Philly Cheese Steak.

I am absolutely aware that there is good food in Cali. I am also aware that good Cajun or Creole or New Orleans style or Louisiana style food can be found outside of the state, but it's RARE. Especially poboys for the reasons given.

This is a Louisiana based message board. People from here are absolutely familiar with the phenomenon of eating Louisiana food elsewhere and being disappointed and even more. It's common to be a bit pissed that such suck arse food is being touted as Louisiana food.

That is NOT the same as being pissed that other places are making, serving, eating Louisiana food. I've never met anyone from Louisiana who feels that way. I think that just about every one of us WISHES and HOPES that the Louisiana food we encounter elsewhere will actually be good, even authentic.

Your assumptions are simply wrong about this whole thread.
