Does anyone have a link of Toby in his early days discussing how he got signed. He discusses how he was passed up for a record contract with his demo tape that eventually had several top ten records.

I’ve seen it in the past, but can’t find it now. TIA.

For a second there I thought you meant he was going Tupac and they were making a deal for his posthumous works.

It is a damn good story of persevering while facing obscurity. I just can’t find it right now.

I'm sure he would have rather just been a cowboy.

The Zappa family did it too. Some of my favorite Zappa was shite he released posthumously that his family thought was great but Frank wasn't in love with it.

He had several songs on a demo before he was signed and was turned down by record labels. Several of those songs became top ten hits after they were released. It was a great story, and would like to share it but I can’t find it now.

He had a record deal where the label owned his music but was shelving his songs wanting him to sing other writers’ songs. They had a certain image they wanted him to fill.

He believed in his stuff enough to buy himself out of the deal, buy back his music rights and cut a new record. The rest is history.

Go to the 3:15 mark to hear how capital records turned him down. The whole interview is good talking about how he got his start.

Some more nostalgia about Toby:

I had no idea Toby Keith gave Taylor Swift her start.

I don’t know what to do with this information.

2 minute clip of young Taylor (she looked great back then)

x News music clip of Taylor LINK

And she has yet to come out and say anything about Toby’s death. Probably an ungrateful bitch since he was a true patriot and she’s not.

Lol, back when Taylor sang with a bit of country twang. She sure left her country roots in the dust.

Is there any reason she would be mad at Toby Keith because he was her first recording deal? When did that dude she hates buy her catalog?

"You're in the room with him and you can feel it. There's a power there, and you're just like ‘Oh my God,'" Swift told Nashville's WSMV. "I don't think I'll ever get to a point where I won't see him and be like, ‘Oh my God, that’s Toby Keith!'"

Thanks OK. That’s what I’m looking for. There is an earlier enter view that is more explicit from that era.

He is an an era entertainer. Garth could’ve been, but will be eclipsed by Toby in the future. Even at Toby’s early death.

I’m not a big Toby fan, I just recognize talent and fortitude for the future.

I saw him play years ago and enjoyed his show. More than that, I enjoyed what else he contributed to our society.

Tobby Keith helped her get on with Big Machine records. Scott Borchetta ran Big Machine records. Taylor swift is furious at Borchetta for selling Big Machine records to Scooter Braun (dude that basically created Bieber mania).

IDK what her current opinion of Toby Keith is.

Also of note is that Scott Swift made millions off the sale of Big Machine records (something like 10 or 15 million).

Basically Taylor is furious at Borchetta who made her what she is today. She wouldn't be here with Big Machine, but she has 99%of women in America eating out of her hand and buying her version of events.
