Could be and it's been years but IIRC those ROV tethers are 3,000 meters or 9,842 feet, not deep enough for Titanic.

There's not much reason to have very deep diving assets staged out of Newfoundland or Nova Scotia. Shallow water relatively speaking.

Yes, issue is the hatch sizes aren’t compatible. No way to mate DSRV to the submersible

I can understand some people's fascination with the Titanic as a catastrophic historical event, but no way in hell I'd even contemplate taking a submersible to that, or any depth to see the wreckage.

To me, that is worse than those fools risking their lives to climb Mt. Everest.

It's been on the ocean floor rusting away for 111 years now, let it be.

People pay 250K for that shite. Probably safer to have a weekend coke and hooker binge.

Could it potentially attach and take the disabled up to the surface? If it just lost power but didn't depressurize.

Assuming they could even find it.

Rich people (multi millionaires and billionaire types) think they can buy anything, including climbing Everest with a Sherpa and this here sub. What a dumb way to pay to die. Some things take skill (climbing). For this, insanity.

Not really. The thing imploded, the Navy has already confirmed it from an inside source at Woods Hole.

Hopefully the beacon is still pinging and one of the support ship’s USBLs can locate it to find the wreckage and at least bring that to the surface for the families

How could/would they confirm it?

Pretty easy to triangulate an explosion (implosion in this case) via seismometers.

Match the time stamps with the loss of communications and general location and there you have it.

So people will soon get to see two wrecks for the price of one in the future!

MSM is scrambling to find a way to blame Trump.... It will be a stretch, but it will be attempted.

I was saying it hadn't imploded... but still would have had to have a way to attach and the ballast to slowly lift the weight to the surface. Assuming that the disabled dub couldn't do anything to help and was just "dead" weight.

I know what you were saying the answer to your question is no (if it was intact, although the navy has other devices that could salvage it, although not as timely). But the sub has imploded so it’s a moot point now.

And here we go again. There isn't a subject anyone could imagine and post on the OT that someone can't bring a political gotcha into.

No kidding. I feel pretty bad about it. I could have gone for a NOLA crime joke, used 350 (or tree fiddy), piihb, bama incest, etc
Someone already used the Clinton assassin line.

It's getting tough out here.

I once started a thread with a pic of a Hummingbird. By the fifth post it was political.

Sounds fricking awful. Has to be one of the worst possible ways to go.
