Isn't about right now when they were supposed to run out of oxygen.

the Thai soccer players was pretty damn close to a miracle and two Thai navy seals died in the rescue effort. There's no happy ending here

Is there a chance this thing did resurface, but is so far off course that it’s essentially “lost at sea?”

An area 2 times the size of Connecticut is pretty big.

"that part of the ocean" = "2+ miles down"

You ask why neophytes should stay away from there?

To all the Sub guys out there. Can the Navy get a DSRV on scene before the 72hr clock runs out.

We don’t have a DSRV rated for that depth. Even if we did, it’s designed to sit down on a hatch that can be opened. The people in this contraption are bolted in from the outside.

Which is ridiculous. I can’t believe the CEO didn’t learn from the Apollo 1 mission and provide a hatch they could open from the inside.

And the CEO for Oceangate claimed they “learned” lessons from NASA’s mistakes. Well, apparently not.

oceangate has been making subs for a good while

one pretty famous client, and she drove around Little St. James Island, chauffeuring people around for entertainment purposes

wayback machine

more to this incident than meets the eye

witnesses disappeared, a hit, fake your death, who knows

I hope they do their thing and blame the CEO’s comments about not hiring 50 year old white men to operate. That would be awesome.

It may have merit. If you DQ’ed experience over race, negligence will play a big role.

Not that they have much money though from what I’ve read. USCG said if they did survive this long, their O2 is depleted.

Recovery mission here we come. RIP to 4 of the 5. CEO can go to hell.

So how would all of these supposed failsafes fail if they aren’t reliant on the power supply? Why would communications and the resurfacing mechanism both fail? Entanglement seems likely but how would that explain losing communication at 2/3 of the depth

The answer to all of your questions is that it imploded. Everybody died instantly and the thing is basically the size of a tin can now.
