How in the world does a scuff not penetrate the outer layer of the paint job?

I learned in a safe class that Coke Cola can be used as a cleaning agent. You can use it to clean car batteries, etc. Put some on a rag and wipe the area that needs cleaning.

You can get a nail polish remover without acetone.
I still wouldn’t use it on car paint but just saying it’s less harsh.

Could be just the clear coat. The clear coat is much thicker than the paint.

I've used a clay bar before to remove paint transfer. Then buffed and waxed afterwards. Usually does the job as long as the paint is on the surface and not embedded into the clear.

Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax. It will remove paint scuffs and smell like bananas.
This stuff is so great. I waxed my wife’s car with an inexpensive orbital buffer and almost all of the micro-abrasions were gone. And the smell is awesome.

Fixed it for you.

It works.
Have done it several times with the wife's van with great success. She seems to have trouble with backing up and non moving objects.
Be sure to wax the area when done.
Clean with vinegar to get residue off.
Dry well.
Wax and polish.

You can put it on the buffing side of a microfiber rag and it will work too. I've done it to a few cars.

Toothpaste.
Is just a mild abrasive much like rubbing compound. Works wonderfully.

Nail polish remover works pretty good for getting unwanted paint or compounds off.
Basically acetone, should work just fine, and won't hurt most modern paint jobs. Folks on here the other day blew up when I told someone to use laquer thinner to remove some house paint from a vehicle.

You didn't remove the micro scratches. They are still there. You just filled them in with the wax which will eventually wear off after a few rains.

Scuff marks are not the same thing as 'paint transfer,' the video is about. If you hit something abrasive, like brick, and the scuff marks are deeper than the clear coat into the paint, the best you can do is try something like McGuire's Ultimate compound and clean it up as good as possible. You will still have paint damage to deal with. A professional might me able to wet sand it and spot treat it. Depending on the vehicle, I'd learn to live with it rather than finding an expensive fix. There are plenty of people out there who will thwart you're best efforts to keep your vehicle damage free.

I keep my vehicle in immaculate condition. There's no way I could just live with it without attempting to fix it.
