I'm inventing a cruise line called "BYOB"... it only costs $40 per passenger ticket. We encourage people bringing their own liquor.

Now you may be saying, $40 will not cover the lost profit of selling multiple drinks during the duration of the cruise. I say to that, our policy will be so popular we will sell more tickets, and have more boats, and more cruises because of the popularity. We will operate on a grander scale reducing the need for substantial profit per head.

We will corner the market in 6 months.

I told my mom I didn't want to go and next thing I know she's bought me a ticket

I liked the specialty drinks in the cute cups. No way I'd pay $10 every hour

So get the bottomless bubbles sticker they offer now. If you drink 6 drinks a day its worth it.

I had an 80 bar credit on my last 7 day cruise.. Total spend on drinks.. $80. I'm 36 with a 2 year old though so don't drink like a crazy college kid anymore.

Bars you can pregame and there are definitely cheaper places than 6.50 gin and tonics.

My mom didn't pick a cruise that had that option. Even though I told her to

Yea. Uh Cruise lines make almost all their profits via alcohol sales. Cruise ticket prices don't even let them break even.

Disney can only get away with allowing you to bring your own alcohol because their ticket prices are a whole lot higher and they still tempt you with mixed drinks that are much cheaper than other lines.

You are on a cruise ship. Not paying for your meals. Having people wait on you hand and foot. $6.50 for a gin and tonic and other drinks within reason a few times a trip are not unreasonable. If you are going on a 3-4 day booze cruise you should opt for the unlimited booze packages now offered by most lines. Or decide that you should spend your vacations on a Grand Isle beach instead.

I was told you can't have the bottles of liquor you buy on the ship unto you get back

This is correct. In January I bought some scotch in Cozumel and they made me check it when we got back to port.

We were able to do it because it was room service. This was not a bottle we bought on land at one of the destinations.

Did spring break 2 years ago and a huge group of us went. Just about everyone snuck in 2 handles/bag by filling vacuum seal bags with alcohol (whiskey packs) and then folding those bags inside of clothes. Only one person out of around several of us got our bags checked and still got through. One guy out of around 50 got caught because he did the water-bottle trick and they caught on to that so they checked his bag extra closely.

You can buy alcohol to have delivered to your room precruise. Is that what you are referring to? 50-75 a bottle.

Also not advertised is that you can drink all the booze you bought at port or on the ship on the last night after 7pm. You just cant bring it through customs.

If you are smart just leave it in the original liquor bottle. That is what me and my friends always do and it works 99% of the time. And the good thing about doing it this way is if they do flag your bag for this they give you the liquor back at the end of the trip. If you get caught trying to hide it in water bottles they throw it away

Where are you going? I just did Royal Caribbean but lot of ports don't check thoroughly I brought a bottle of 135 proof white rum from Jamaica and didn't have to pay for alcohol the rest of the trip

Just dont go on a cruise. Every vacation I take I stock the condo with alcohol and go to bars. No worries. And way less white trash.
