Im already sold on it, but hesitant to spend $$$ if inspection will force me to get rid of it. The legal limit is so light it doesn’t make sense to do it.

You have to be careful with some vehicles because they come from the factory already tinted. Normally something low like 70%. Then you throw what you think is legal tint on top of that and suddenly you can’t pass a tint test at inspection time.
Most reputable tint shops will do the math to make sure you stay under the legal limit though.

Tinted car windows...are they legal?
I have limo (5 %) on every window, except the front windshield.
But my vehicle is not registered in Louisiana. Different states will have different laws.

Im definitely not looking for super dark, just something in between.
Sounds racist

I wish they would allow darker tint. The freckles & sun damage is more noticeable on my left arm & the left side of my face from driving.

Louisiana RS 32 and for vehicles without exemption....
cars: 40% front windows, 25% rear windows, 12% back glass.
trucks: 40% front, rear and back glass as dark as you want.
If you tint under legal limits, most places make you pay with cash. I would go 20% all around if none of your windows have privacy glass(manufacturer stained windows).

Do car inspection shops not enforce it?
Depends on the inspection station, most do, some doesn't.

I just got mine done here in SC this week and it’s 30, so I went with that, got ceramic. It’s a bit darker than I would’ve liked but can’t go back. The guy said they go as low as 5 for a lot of their jobs and people aren’t getting tickets for it, but that’s really trashy.
And yeah my car is dark with dark seats and dash. Easy bake oven.
