Holy cow man. Relax. They just fired their brewmaster and head brewer and are pretty committed to turning it around.

Relax? Like I said, the craft brew market is incredibly saturated. There is literally a shelf war going on. Tin Roof just can't compete as is. I would like them to be better, as they are now putting out a product that is associated with LSU.

I'm not being hostile, just disappointed. The fact that they just had to overhaul their staff proves my point.

Because most people don't wan't or can't drink a 12 pack of your favorite beer snob IPA tailgaiting in 90 deg weather. Look, I enjoy different beers, but if I'm drinking all day at some function, it's got to be somethg light... or whiskey.

I disagree with this. It just isn't cost effect to pound craft beer all day. It's better to drink cheap beer and adjust your buzz with whiskey as needed.

Not my favorite, but Founders All Day IPA is 4.8% abv

Hence why I said they couldn't compete and overhauled their staff.

I have to admit that I probably won't try it for a couple of months because they have a history of releasing better and better batches after the first. The blonde ale is good, it's hard for a micro brewer to do a lager, give them a bit of time. These guys aren't frickin Heineken, but I think and hope they'll work the lager out.

I tried to be a tester and didn't get pick. They emailed me earlier this summer and said they were going to have a private tasting party for everyone whom applied and didn't get pick. Still no word yet. It was suppose to be before it got released.

Couldn't compete? To who? Find a grocery store in Louisiana that doesn't sell their beer mr shelf war. Believe it or not they do pretty good business. I assume they want better business.

Typical LSU people. You now have a beer that is your's, not perfect, but it is your's. Kinda like your teams, they all suck in your eyes, but they win and usually win at the highest level. Y'all are the most pessimistic crowd I've ever seen, guess y'all are just thinking about your future.

Oh, and good thing the principals of Tin Roof are from MS so it has grown to what it is, LSU official beer. One owner is a Ole Miss guy too. Sorry...

I could care less about an LSU stamp on something. If it isn't good, I'm not going to buy it. I love LSU, but that love doesn't turn me into a mindless sheep.

By the way, this is not an easy drinking lager by any means. It's very filling and honestly just bad. Not crisp at all and had a bad aftertaste. I bought a six pack and the other 5 are still in the fridge.

Tin roof ain't winning at the highest level though. They've put out a bunch of shite beers over the years and capitalized on being the one main brewery in BR.

Bingo. Parish brewing is good beer, Nola is good beer, Abita is good beer. Why don't they put it out there and get to be the LSU official beer? It's called WANT-TO. LA boys would rather bitch about 20 year old kids chasing a ball on a field or which beer tastes worst than the other. MS boys figured they'd make some beer and get a distributor to market it, and make some money.

Never thought I'd see a brewery out of Louisiana as good as Parish,

but somehow that dude pulled it off. Envie, Ghost, and they've got some limited runs like Farmhouse and a couple others I can't remember that are really special.

There's some other solid breweries in Louisiana, but they're all competing for 2nd.

Great Raft, Chafunkta probably battling for 2nd.

It was ranked number 2 in the country

First of all, that only proves my skepticism that it isn't the best.

Second of all I was curious, so I googled it, didn't find Baton Rouge in the top 10 on the first 4 results. Please provide a link that claims BR is even second best.

Get fricking real. Baton Rouge is due north of a brackish swamp and you're claiming you have the best water in the country. Open your eyes broseph Stalin. Travel a bit. Don't compare your water to grand isle and call it the best in the country. It's embarrassing

Tin Roof's brewing staff was just totally overhauled, so expect some improvements. The new batch of Gameday is definitely a step in the right direction.

Man I hope so. The last time I tried the Gameday IPA it was undrinkable. Honestly it tasted like a hoppy bud light (was close to a year ago). I do want Tin Roof to be great, but I feel like if they haven't figured it out quality-wise by this point they never will. It's not like they have the "new brewery" excuse anymore.

And about BR water. The swamp and river are completely hydrologically separate from the aquifer and drinking water. A simple google search can explain that. BR water also has very soft water and very minimal amounts of chlorine compared to others. People I know that don't like it are used to hard water. The only place that I've had better water personally is from filtered snowmelt in Colorado.
