There must have been one helluva marketing meeting to come up with this PR stunt.

"No one believes electric vehicles have pulling power!"

"Let's prove they do!"

"With a 287,000 pound plane!"

Silence.

Six months later...

On a remote taxiway at Melbourne Airport, a Tesla Model X P100D with the greatest pulling power of any electric passenger vehicle came face to face against the newest star of the Qantas fleet, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

You forgot to mention that it is only able to pull it 15 feet before needing a 24 hour recharge.

I want to see him stop it. Pulling is rarely the problem, stopping it is.

Electric vehicles have higher torque

I'd assume if anything they'd be good at pulling shite

This is dumb. A lot of the tugs at the airport are actually electric now a days.

Whoever said electric vehicles can't pull is a bumbling idiot

Now how far they pull is a more legitimate discussion

Off topic, but that 787 Dreamliner is one fine plane to ride in.

It’s not like the vehicles they tow planes around airports are that big and powerful to begin with.

It’s a glorified lawn tractor.

Doesn’t count if it’s not loaded with fuel, luggage, and passengers.

Mid-sized tugs are rated at 100,000+ lbs for the aircraft the pull/push. Powered by diesel/gas/LPG/electric sources that generally make less than 200 lb-ft of torque. Anybody impressed by this Tesla stunt is an idiot...
