The number of people in this thread advocating for more tax on anything is out of control. The US doesn't have a taxation problem. It has a spending problem.

I think the feeling behind it is more some pastors and for all intents and purposed are stealing these peoples money to buy multi million dollar mansions and multi million dollar private jets
Edit-They use the message of feed the poor and clothe the naked to rake in million for a private jet

This is dumb, you don’t think pastor's/preachers don’t pay taxes? I’m sure the big names use tax shelters no differently than any other intelligent person that makes a lot of money.
You shouldn’t get rich off of being a pastor or preacher. And before your whataboutism, the amount of wealth the Catholic Church holds bothers me greatly.

It's not just churches, many non-profits are raking in huge profits.

Preachers pay taxes on their income. They also pay taxes on part of their housing allowance if they don't have enough expenses to offset the allowance.

Don’t get me wrong. I consider those fleecing the flock so to speak as absolute false teachers, but what does this serve really when politicians fleece Americans to enrich themselves and spend our money in foreign countries and ventures we do not benefit from in the slightest. Our money, not theirs, but ours, and WE vote for it. That does significantly more damage to us all, the value of the dollar and bringing about our own destruction than a handful of so called “preachers” who will get what they deserve for distorting and manipulating God’s word for their own financial riches.
Perhaps we should all just stop enriching them all, politician and charlatan preacher alike.

I follow the motto of Fletch when it comes to churches and money:
“I believe in a God that doesn't need heavy financing.“

How about you convince your neighbors to stop voting for thieving arse county assessors (Fort Bend can FOAD.)
Dallas tax rates and valuation appreciation are a fraction of what Houston and Fort Bend are subject to. Oooh, you mentioned an ISD, we approve billions in bonds! Rate won't go up? Approve it! (Nevermind that the assessor jacks you 10% a year.)

As a pastor, I can tell you that I’m taxed just like all of you. Don’t assume the 1% of pastors speak for us all. I get paid about like a teacher. We run about 225 people and have 2 full time pastor positions which are lead pastor and myself, family pastor. Our lead pastor works many 80 hour weeks. Cleaning floors, scrubbing toilets, changing lightbulbs, hospitals, funerals, weddings, nursing homes, study, sermon prep, helping families navigate through problems, ect. That’s just one week.

I’m sure this would make your life a lot better. You’re definitely poor because the government isn’t taxing preachers
