so you think they would be totally cool with me parking on the road and walking my own tube down for free?
If you drove up and found a place to park and dropped into the river on your own, I doubt TT would care at all...and legally, there isn't really anything they can do about it I don't believe (since it's not their property).

i really wish a large group would try this and report the result. something tells me it wouldnt go over smoothly

They pay them to rent the tubes, to be transported on their bus, dropped off at an entry point and the use of their sandbar when they exit the river.
So why do some tubing companies make you sign a waiver of liability before you go? (not sure if TT does this or not).

Tiki tubing doesn't own the river.
I never once said this

Probably so you can't try to sue them with some bullshite equipment claim when you're a drunken jackass.

Probably (just guessing) because they own the actual tubes. I assume there is some liability on their end if you could prove that the tube itself was the reason for an injury.

They absolutely used to. I assume they still do.

for the amount of customers they get are there really lots of deaths/serious injuries?

I'm not defending people who bring about their own demise by diving headfirst off a cliff into 3 feet water, but I do think TT should make an effort to maintain the river. Whatever, its a trash operation catering to a lot of trash

that waiver is their golden ticket. what business do you know that has a death occur at their establishment at least once every summer and its all good?

then you can motor up and down the river all you want...TT can't say a damn word

That's what I was saying earlier...seems like a REALLY, REALLY low % of people getting hurt/dying.

Does someone die "at least once every summer" though?
Honestly asking because I have no idea. And even still...if it's one or two a year when tens of thousands of people are doing it, that seems very small.

People just love to sensationalize things that will happen when you mix water, young people, and alcohol together.
Beaches are closed during strong rip currents but people still drown when the seas are calm. You can't prevent people form drowning IMO. Sure you can make it safer but what can be done other than making them wear life jackets?

I guess if someone wants to go tubing, you can't stop them..even if they can't swim well. No easy solution to irresponsibility and stupidity. I suppose they could be more careful and not be open during hazardous conditions, but that's about all.
