It has become evident that by having "420" in your username you automatically have to post like a douchebag.

I'm not a big coal enthusiast, but I'll be damned if I will publicly comment on how happy I am to have someone die, along with family and friends, in a tragic accident.
Is that happening? Wow!! Deranged Left I take it?

Just read comments on Twitter for about 10 minutes....very disheartening. So much mindless hate towards someone simply because he was billionaire coal guy. Looking at social media is just depressing these days. This isn't a bad time to be alive in America, at all, yet there is so much vitriolic groupthink going on. It's sad.

Yeah, I just read some of that and it is pretty sick. Well, those people are going to be way more upset when Trump is re-elected and at this point I think that is going to happen.

I'll be honest here. I do follow on Twitter a few liberal people in the music industry to pick up on some music news. However, 90% of their posts are anti Trump rhetoric. I irritates me to no end. But, I also hated to hear all the Obama bashing, too. When you "side up" with whatever side you choose, it is like whoever the President is from the "other side" can never do anything right. I mean right now, Trump could lean over and pick up a small toddler off the ground who tripped, yet the left would holler and call him racist for not also picking up a black child or immigrant.

You are entitled to your observations, as you saw/see them. Mine differ. To use a weather analogy, on a scale of 1-10 (10 being nastiest):

- anti-Obama rhetoric from the right was a steady 7.2, with gusts up to 10.3

- anti-Trump rhetoric from the left and the media IS a steady 9.6, with gusts up to 23

The Deranged Left has made this happen.

Twitter has become the Coercion/ Enforcement wing of Cultural Progressivism. It’s where the parameters of the movement are learned, practiced, enforced etc. people learn to “ stay in line “ or face the Angry Mob. So it has a real chilling effect on dissent because if you stray outside Progressive norms you might get publicly ruined.

That celebrating the tragic death of your fellow Americans may be within the norms of Cultural Progressivism is scary and sad. It’s radicalism first, basic humanity, compassion, empathy waaaay later.

This is how I'll try to be "neutral" in an observation.

Republicans hate Obama for his principles, government decesions, etc. Other than that, I think most Republicans can see through that and he appears to be a nice guy.

Democrats hate everything Trump. They literally despise the very air he breathes.

However, it only seems to be getting worse with time, and the next Democrat that gets into office will surely face a worse ire than did Obama.

Conservative Republicans , being traditionalists, still overwhelmingly believe in Constitutional principles and societal decorum. They also accept and endorse the concept that our two party system require POWER SHARING by design.

Progressive Democrats not so much.

How anybody could revel in the death of people on the other “ side “ of the Culture Wars is beyond me. When I occasionally see it with my side on this board, I hammer it with the quickness. Twitter/ Progressives have to police themselves and root this kind of hatred out. We have to be better than this.

Just to clear a few things up, per U.S. law, it is the responsibility of a vessel owner to mark a wreck. Not the USCG. And for the USCG in the Bahamas, there is no CG bases there. There are Helicopters that are placed in two locations but their mission is not Search and Rescue. Also, in order for the USCG to conduct SAR in the Bahamas, they have to get a request from the Bahamian Government. It is a foreign country and we treat them just like any other.

Thank you!

Also you can mention that if the USCG does have to come rescue or tow your arse in you can in some instances receive a bill in the mail.

offshore baws train for this, and they say it’s a bitch to get out of a flipped chopper in the water.
you have to preplan your exit, which is typically the window next to you. Prep plan the specific hand movement to reach up and pull yourself out through said window. Upside down and zero visibility. For anyone afraid of water or lacking swimming skills it’s very tough.

2am in morning can’t imagine.

No, the CG cannot charge you for a rescue. It is a military service that gets its funding through taxes you pay. Now, if you make a false distress call and are caught, there could be jail time/fines that are delivered from a federal judge.

2am takeoff is strange.

very strange. I've been on several helicopters, but unless you're in the Coast Guard, you shouldn't be in a helicopter that late at night. Wonder if local hospital wasn't an option until daybreak?

It's all speculation for us without the full story, just lots of variables lead to problems with a rushed helicopter flight at 2am. Pilot duty time/alertness, weight/fuel calcs, etc.

The red helicopter in the pictures is apparently not the crashed helicopter.

This is, according to ABC:

quote:

The helicopter was later found overturned in about 16 feet of water off Grand Cay, where the seven bodies were recovered from the aircraft, police said. The Bahamas Air Accident Investigation Department said the bodies were transported to Rand Memorial Hospital, in Freeport, on Grand Bahama island.

I’m guessing, looking at these girl’s pics, that they were pretty high profile on campus. I’m surprised we haven’t heard more about them. Beautiful and accomplished girls. Very, very sad. I have a daughter at LSU - I would not survive this. Prayers to these families.
