There is a hippy couple that apparently took this crap on as a full time job over the last three weeks in Metairie. They just go door to door playing a guitar and singing Christmas carols for tip money.

OP be like: "If they would rather die," said Scrooge, "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

This was my first thought.. When I use to have to take the ferry every day, in the evening there was always a suburban that would pull right off the river road and a few kids would hop out. Each one had a supply of pralines. The kids were dressed like pentecostals.. They would drop them off where there was a lot of traffic when all the plant workers were getting off of work and they would sell out in 5-10 mins.

I have seen them get dropped off at the 4:45PM ferry pick up time and on the 5:15PM ferry pick up time, I wouldn't be surprised if they would make several runs, but $2 a cookie, maybe sell 30 of them 2 or 3 times a day that's at least $150 dollars a day, If they would do it 5 days a week 52 weeks in a year that's about $40,000 that's not taxed.. People would look at those kids and think "they don't have much money and they are just trying to make a few extra dollars so I am going to buy from them. How many people would pull out a $5 tell them they wanted 2 pralines and tell them to keep the extra $1? My point is, sometimes you can just tell when kids are being put up to something.

Okay, I will say this. The boy, who appeared to be about 10 years old, was dark.. The type of dark that is common in people from Mexico who have spanish heritage. He had really dark hair, but it wasn't the same type of hair as a black person, so I was able to confirm he wasn't black. He didn't have anglo saxon features.. So take that how you want.

If I implied they were, I didn't mean to. I was sort of "typing out loud" and thinking of the possibilities. Like me, you don't know exactly how many cookies they were selling.

So you're supposed to tip people coming to your door singing carols? Sounds like musical panhandling.
