Well... one of these big cats was given a name by american media to sensationalize a story. This cat was a predatory animal that endangered lives. In his death he also brought wealth to the area and became food to feed hungry people.
The second big cat was rescued, given a name, lived in direct contact with thousands of humans a day for a decade, then passed away after contracting an invasive cancer.
I see no hypocrisy here. One animals life was as a nuisance and good came from his death. The other lived his life as an inspiration and his death was mourned.
Vent directed at a FB screenshot. Lol. Man I hate dumbarses.

Also considering that Cecil was the leader of his pride once he was killed he would lose control of the pride to a new male. The new males sometimes tend to kill of the cubs of the former pride leader for dominance purposes, and given the fact that he was on a nature preserve to promote wildlife survival that just adds to the difference in their means of death.

I'm not really sure why we must be for one and against the other.
I feel like that fricking dentist should have gotten his arse kicked for just being a douche and killing unnecessarily except for his own self-importance, and I am also sad that we lost Mike.

You do understand that these "unnecessary killings" fund the conservation that has led to the revitalization of many African species? There was a story earlier this year on how many reservations are having to kill off lions and are losing money trying to maintain healthy habitats and numbers of all the animals on the reservations.
I also struggle with the outrage against luring the animal from a place where he couldn't kill it. I have hunted whitetail at a camp before bordering a state park. I felt zero regret putting a nice buck down who jumped the fence to get corn from my feeder or chase a doe.

I'm a douche and part of the problem, apparently

Bucks don't have an issue with population size though do they? Those nature preserves are to prevent man from eliminating the species from unnecessary hunting, like hunting for sport. Given the fact to so many big cats a struggling to sustain a species size because of human poaching I would say it's not the same as killing a buck.
Also a good thing why we have Mike, a Tiger that was given a rough start but can now be used for research and is not harmed. Conservation efforts should be supported.

So when the Dentist was also busted before killing bear illegally in America, was that for conservation too?

I hope that guy gets hit by a bus. The hypocrisy of his statement "you are part of the problem". Nah brah, you are.

A part of the conservation of the African lion is the population control. The biggest money maker for these game reserves and areas in general are these safari hunts. It's a balancing act that without one side or the other many of these animals would be on the brink of extinction. Had the dentist ponied up a little more and gone through the reserve you would not have heard a peep about him killing "Cecil".
In regards to his killing of a bear out of season and attempting to cover it up, frick him. I have zero qualm with a legal kill, but poachers can suck start a 12 gauge.
