Took one of my sons to a cub scouts meeting, to see what it was all about. I never got involved as a kid myself, but from the flyer it sounded like they do cool shite (fishing, archery, carpentry, hiking, etc)

But couldn't help but get a super weird vibe from all the scout master guys, like they enjoyed being a scout master too much, plus they were wearing masks outside. On top of it, we had to sign up to sell popcorn on the weekends outside of Lowes and then we saw photos of arrows they were shooting and they were suction cups, which seemed lame.

Talked to a couple of my friends who were also at the meeting with their boys, and they had the same thoughts, that the scout masters seemed too boy touchy for their comfort.

So we all decided we will be doing our own camping and outdoor excursions on our own outside the scouts.

Maybe there are better troops, I am sure there are, where the Dads aren't all weird and act normal. But is the general vibe most people have with the scouts?

I can't support boy or girl scouts any more since they both accept gay leaders
You should see the looks I get and responses I get from mothers at the table where girl scout cookies are sold. I tell them why I won't buy.

My rule of thumb is that someone, male or female, who wants to spend time alone with other people's kids - outside of their job - most likely has issues.

20 years ago, sure

Now? Hell no they’ve been invaded and warped by the SJWs

I much prefer camping along with my kids and other like minded parents.

So, men who volunteer to coach t-ball are all a bunch of sex creeps?

...Hmm, makes sense.

I enjoyed scouting from early on until I became an Eagle Scout in 2010. Sadly, the Boy Scouts are just scouts now to be PC and can now have gay scoutmasters. This is just another organization the liberals have ruined. Aren’t there other options out there?

I was in scouting as a kid, but just like everything liberalism touches, it's terrible now.

Boy Scout troops vary widely, many times there is a long time leader and the troops takes his personality.

Cub Scouts is not that like that, the leaders are transient (move on as there child moves up into Boy Scouts).

There are usually two to three troops in a local area, you may want to check those out.

Boy Scouts still have many troops that are "old fashion" believe in traditional family values and have fun in the outdoors.

There are usually 4 types of scouts:

-Box checkers - want to Eagle for their resume
-Mom makes them go
-Infatuated with the military/outdoors
-Want comradery of a sports team, but not good enough for public high school sports

Parents normally attend the team victory ice cream meal at McDonald’s?

Usually, it’s just the coach packing up the team in the van and agreeing to bring them back when it’s all over.

I had all three of my kids in Cub Scouts in recent years - Two girls, one boy. We're out in Ascension Parish, and the organization out here is amazing. They were overly precautious about any adults being alone with kids. My kids had a great time, but lost interest once they started the Arrow of Light transition to Scouts.

It’s not worth I did it. If your son enjoys it then do it if not do not force it on him.
