Eta: just a lot of words to pretty much say the cottages aren't alone in the no firearms thing.

Correct, but after the shooting, the property's main message to their residents was a reminder that there is a no gun policy. Terrible move by the property, especially considering the murderers were non residents.

Prohibiting law abiding residents from having a gun for protection in their rooms is a big flashing light to future criminals to go there, knowing there will be little resistance.

I'd venture to say every large student housing complex around LSU has the same policy.

Lived on campus my first year and now I work as an RA in the dorms. I. can say that I love being on campus and it really helps academically. For me anyway.

Essential? Probably not. But beneficial? Yeah.

The people I know that lived off campus all 4 years never expanded that much beyond their group of high school friends that they lived with. Obviously there's always exceptions, but for the most part I found this to be true.

If you are a parent, don't send your kids there. Mold everywhere, shitey maintenance, and the worst managers ever to run an apartment complex.

When me and my roomates lived there at the time, they randomly took the dumpster away for no reason. So we had to leave our bagged trash right outside our porch. Well, of course we lived right on the fricking edge of the complex where the forest was, and lo and behold some raccoons decided that it was a good idea to break into the trash bags and distribute all of our trash on our front porch. It was fun picking up all that shite baw, lemme tell you. We decided to bring it up with the management, and guess what they did to help out? Nothing.

Frick. That. Place.

Aside from the murders the place is terrible. Awful management that will frick you hard to get every penny they can. Poorly built. Every amenity that you can get at the cottages, you can get for free. They do not lock the doors to the clubhouse after hours and do not check for residency

Gate is always broken and it takes them multiple reports of an issue til they fix something. Don't let the "study rooms" fool you, after 10 pm there is usually a ton of people drinking and partying in there so no work gets done. also there are extremely loud train horns that blow every night multiple times from 12-3 am in the morning

The only benefit is that it is close to Burbank (best road to get to school for me on) and the pool

Then you add the sketchy crowd that has been hanging out in the complex on the weekend that led to the shooting...

Get out of your lease. It's probably not too late.

I lived there for 2 years and had several guns in my room and one of my roommates had even more than me. I would've loved to see someone break in our place.

Whether she lives there or not, she'll be spending a lot of time in a bikini at the pool.
