Best dog breed imo.

Everyone I've encountered has been incredible

Aunt has a rescue and its the nicest and quietest dog I've ever seen. Loves attention and affection.

I've only ever had boxers. Great, great family dogs. They are very gentle with children, but can be suspicious of strangers. They have that perfect mix of size and look, to where they would give any potential bad guys pause. But they are gentle and fun enough to be part of the family.

If you get them as a puppy, they are very bad, and can take a while to train. Its not that they're not smart, they just have a lot of play in them, and tend to ignore their masters at first.

If you want to skip the bad puppy stage, take a look at the Louisiana Boxer Rescue people. The dogs are fully vetted, and they will let you know the temperament of the dog.

My last dog died 6 years ago, and it nearly broke me in two. I think, now that my daughter is older and can take on the responsibility of a dog, we will look at getting another boxer in the spring.

I have had two, got the first as a pup. Will be the best dog I ever had. There is no way to top him. Just amazing. He died of cancer at 10 years old. I have a rescue from Louisiana Boxer rescue. He was so malnourished and fearful at first, now he is a huge part of our family. They are the best family pet you can have. Also, great for someone who is active. They must have exercise daily.

Mine passed away this summer She was a great dog and was good with the kids. Lived to 12 yrs old. I would have another but the puppy stage was brutal and she didn't really calm down till after 3 yrs old.

And as others have said, they are prone to tumors. My last one was put down because of a tumor on her spine. But, she did live to be 15 years old.

If you get one, check her for bumps and moles constantly. Check everywhere. I've found tumors between her toes. She had a huge one next to her butthole. There was one in her mouth that we missed, and one day she bit through it and bled everywhere. When I got home there was blood on the floor, blood on the sofa, blood on the walls. I thought I walked into a murder house.

All in all, I think I had 5 growths removed from her.

I forgot to mention that my boxer hardly ever made a noise, unless he heard something that wasn't "right" and he would give one deep bark and that was it. Otherwise he never made a noise.

My grandfather was a farmer and cattleman who always kept boxers that he trained as working dogs. He had a few over the years that I think he thought more highly of than my grandmother.

That's how my last one was. We rescued her from Rockin P Rescue in Jacksonville AL. She was solid white, and little skin cancers started pooping up around her mouth. Vet said they would not be an issue if he could cut them out, but the location was a problem.

I don't care for them. They are popular, though. Too hyper and goofy for my liking.

The worst "puppy" I have ever had, first few months were awful
Stays under my feet, follows me everywhere
Sheds horribly
High vet bills (I have every bump checked for cancer)
Destroys toys
Puppy stage is 4-5 years
They have the most horrible gas than you can imagine

Mine turns 5 in a few weeks & I would not trade her for a million dollars
She is hands down the best dog I have ever had

Louisiana Boxer Rescue usually has some awesome Boxers for adoption

I have had my boxer for one year - got her from Florida Boxer Rescue - she was a 4yo brindle. Best dog ever. She is energetic, but can contain it. A few wild runs in the house and she's good, but a nice back yard is even better. They are deceptively fast. Great with kids, great with all other dogs I have introduced her to. The only con I can think of is shedding, but that's not enough to keep me away.

Dumb and loyal, like most dogs. Dumber than most, though.

As others have said...great family dog, but the puppy/training years are tougher than most breeds. Lots of energy and very playful. Once they get a little older they are incredible if trained properly.

10 years is about average. Ours made it 11. She was an awesome dog. Had to put her down after she developed a brain tumor.

Yeah, I don't think they are too bright. I like my dogs stronger, too.

This is my 2nd one Hendrix. My first was a huge white boxer named Rocky. Everyone loved Big Rock. Cancer took him at 8 yrs old. Hendrix is 3 and is a ball of energy. Very needy, very spoiled (my fault), but is always ready to go and will brighten your day every single day. Boxers are such a great breed.
