I love my cube. What gets me through the day if I'm lucky is being busy at work, but everyone here is pretty cool so if we're slow we find things to talk about and make them interesting. The OT helps too.

Sorry to hear that. I don't have an issue with cubes but I'd prefer a more open feel to what you have, with more natural light.

I just found out that I'm getting a prime spot in the new building (now under construction); my back will be to a floor to ceiling window on the 9th floor.

My office is all cubes, new age open floor plan to help "facilitate teamwork". No offices even for the big dogs. They pump in white noise but it still isn't enough to drown out the loud arse people that don't have cubicle voices. There is no privacy

I know of a place in the Houston area like this. You don't make actuators do you?

I wish I had a cubicle. I share 1 room with 3 Indians (dot), 2 asians, and an Albanian. There is literally 6 inches to the Albanian on my right

and 2 feet to the stinky Indian on my left.

prayers and everything else are futile against the smell. And he walks to work so from now until October he is going to smell like rotten curry and green onions all day.

That's the new style.....the only real partition walls are conference rooms, bathrooms, and break rooms. The common new layout will be cubes with 4' high walls with a 1' glass topper. If you are really important, you'll still be in a cube with your team in some companies.

Get used to this layout. It should help feel more open while still providing some private space.

These pics are really depressing. Even though I don't have windows I'm glad I have an office and can shut the damned door. I would hate being right next to someone like that. Some jobs (mine) could not even be done in that type of environment.

See at least you get to shoot the shite with a bunch of foreigners. Keeps things interesting. Everyone in my office is on edge for some reason and people are awkward unlike my last job. Office is full of boring bankers.

They are all PhDs and some barely speak English. The conversations can rarely be described as titillating.
