Kwanzaa is the anti-Christmas. A made up holiday by angry activist African Americans who wanted to reject the traditions of their oppressors. Not that I blame them, But a holiday founded in anger is not very fun or compelling.
Festivus, another made up anti-holiday, founded in humor and a good bit of underlying cynicism, has way more participation than Kwanzaa.

Kwanza is a Pan American created by Ron Karenga aka Maulana Karenga to "give Blacks an alternative to the existing holiday and give Blacks an opportunity to celebrate themselves and their history, rather than simply imitate the practice of the dominant society."
