Discerning art critics of the OT, thoughts?

(Twombly is one of the most celebrated american artists of the 20th century and died in 2011. His paintings go routinely for 10s of millions.)

Looks like something a toddler would do to a wall with a marker

If I took a picture of it and turned it into an NFT you think I could get about half that?

Probably more tax evasion than money laundering.

Put the real painting in a Freeport. Make a fake and hang it in your house. 41.6MM you aren't paying taxes on.

It's easier and more efficient to put 41.6 million on your wall than stacking up hundreds in a room.

If you already have the money, I assume you've already paid taxes on that money you used to buy the painting, correct? Unless you buy it with business revenue as an operating business and claim it as a business expense? I'm not a tax guy, learn me up.

Money laundering I get though.

and that you don't have anymore, if you paid tax on it you'd still have quite a bit of it

Well, the money didn't disappear, it is an asset now.

The value of someone like Twombly is already established and isn't presumably going to go down.

He's dead, so he's not making any more to dilute the market. The value will almost always go up...way up, eventually.

hard to believe more than one sap would pay that price for that scribbling, but I don't know much about "art"
