Met a couple from the northeast in New Orleans this weekend. It was 75 and they told me they were not looking forward to going home.

No one wants a true cold winter, there's a reason why there are so many snow birds head south for the Winter.

Who, exactly, is laughing at climate change proponents besides "business as usual," science-denier types? Because it's certainly not NASA.

Agreed. You should see all the cars with Canadian license plates driving around here. Snowbird season is in full effect here. I also have several girlfriends that are originally from places back east like New York state, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. They don't miss shoveling snow, driving in snow, etc. They love it out here in Scottsdale, and make fun of me when I say it's cold outside when it's 60 degrees with a full jacket on(they are wearing tshirts and flip flops just because they can).

It's amazing weather...

I'm sporting shorts and loafers with a breathable button up with sleeves rolled up walking Magazine street right now.

I love it.

I can hose off the horse after a ride instead of sticking a cooler on him and waiting for/hoping he'll dry before putting his blanket on.

Yay for winter in the south!

It's happened many times before. Nothing new.

And it was in the 40s just a few days ago. It's just the way the weather has always been in the south. Sometimes you get a cold winter Christmas, sometimes you don't.

Yes. I realize that. AZ attracts snow birds, athletes, celebrities, etc.

Its South Louisiana. Christmas will usually be cold or warm. I am not sure if the past few days have been record highs, but I recall wearing shorts on Christmas day from time to time and on the other hand, there were times when it was cold and shite, but last year was a relatively mild winter (and Christmas) especially compared to the past several years before then.

There are very weak La Nina condition this year, I think. Typically during a decent La Nina, you have warmer and drier winters in the South East. During a neutral year, I think it's typically warmer and wet. So I'm assuming we are looking at a relatively mild and dry winter, but I'm not a weather guru.
