Not even remotely close.

You people are Walt-like in your ability to make up "facts".

I agree we shouldn't be mean to them...they are people but it's hard not to be disgusted by the morbidly obese.

Have you ever watched my 600 lb life?

I admittedly had accidentally thrown in SSA when doing the quick math in my head for medical program spending without realizing it - medical expenditures are actually about 25%. For the other part, it depends on what he/she means by "welfare"...EITC? SNAP? Housing subsidies?

My point remains: it is a massive, sclerotic, and often unnecessary economic drag on this country.

I totally agree. It is gross. That is what makes it sadder.

Many times in this sub have I seen submitters discuss how their doctors tend to prescribe weight loss for their issues instead of prescribing what they would give to a thinner person. People who are pro-medical industry state that this is because doctors have difficulty working on fat bodies
Nope. It isn't because fatties are difficult to work on. It's because we don't want to touch them. They're gross.

All joking aside. It's because the cause of your problem is your fatness. We don't tell skinny people to lose weight when they have the same symptoms because their symptoms aren't caused by fatness.

I had an obese cadaver in med school. The professors wouldn't come to my table. I still preferred it to the really skinny elderly cadavers.

Screw that. Our cadaver was something like 80 lbs.

No fat to cut through.

I will gladly welcome the day you have to step on a scale at the airport and pay more if you exceed the allowed weight limit.
That would be absolutely amazing

When some people die they choose to be donated to science.. kinda like being an organ donor, but you're donating your whole body to science..

These people need to beat up their parents for not feeding them properly during their formative years, nor instilling a culture of proper diet.

Just finished reading the thread.

poor and thin people are better. Those dudes that work road construction and live off reds, nd mountain dew. Burn 4,000 cals a day shovelin' dirt and layin concrete.

The worst people are the obese middle-upper middle class receptionist in whatever office, that drink diet cokes all day but eat a jumbo bacon ranch salad, and say "I have a thyroid condition".
