With a few exceptions, fashion has not changed that much

Business fashion hasn't changed much but casual fashion has changed a great deal. The 90s was big jeans and colorful jackets. No one wears windbreakers any more let alone the ones that looked like a rainbow. Watch any old sports game from the 90s and get a kick out of what the crowd is wearing.

That's some demo footage from DVHS tapes. Back when HD video was only available on VHS (D Theater).

I figured it was Seinfeld because well it sounds like it and it's early 90s NYC.

Nope, it's Stevie Wonder, Living For The City. 1973 song, and the strangest version I've ever heard.

All of the young adults in that video are in their 40's and likely grandparents now

It's NYC not Arkansas. They don't have any kids. They also don't have them at 15.

If it were 1963, it would be more impressive. The 90's weren't that long ago

I really can't understand what they are trying to get at there.

I guess the point is - we don't really know what the city looked like in the time of our parents and grandparents (and that's true). There is film, but it's grainy black and white or color. We have to fill in the blanks with what we think we know about any place with that sort of imagery. With this footage, there will be few questions about how the city looked during that time in 1000 years (assuming it and we as a species survive that long).

It doesn't look like it was filmed today. There are two buildings that are a hot melted dead giveaway.
