Where are all the people staring down at their phones?

I could tell by the glasses and hair styles that was from the 90's

Would've been better with some Seinfeld bass riffs. Cool video.

Cameras were never the problem with being HD...
It was the recording medium.

If it were 1963, it would be more impressive. The 90's weren't that long ago
I get you're point about most people remembering that long ago, but I'm impressed by the quality of the footage. Go look at a home video from 1993 and then look at this video and get back to me.

This video makes me feel old. 1993 was 23 years ago, and I was 9 years old. 1970 back then felt like it was the land of my distant ancestors.
My own children are going to think about 1993 like it was some distant past that they can't relate to.
frick I think I just grew a grey hair.

Everyone in that video was more anonymous than any of us will ever be again.

This sounds like we are in the year 2245.
1993 is 23 years ago. Why would we be guessing what NYC looked like?
Same thought. Though I am a little sad that I feel like '93 wasn't that long ago. Then I'm reminded that I finished LSU over 10 years ago. Now I'm really sad.

that was super cool.

It keeps going by faster and faster when you get older. I was 25 when that video was made. Seems like yesterday. Do the math.

Anybody else think of Law & Order or NYPD Blue while they were watching it?

Know what you mean but I've tried by never joining any social media.
Also wanted to say that video just can't grab the true size of the towers.

Go watch some medium format film like Lawrence of Arabia and then tell me how amazing this footage looks.
It's better than most digital video of that era but who gives a shite. Medium format film of 1993 would blow that video away.

What's up with the guy wearing the SS emblem at 1:43?

quote:On its face it isn't impressive, but how this will affect us is that when we're old and we look back at archival footage of today, we're going to see HD instead of grainy film that inherently dates the footage.
For some reason, that wasn't very impressive to me.
So basically the period of time when you would look at footage from 20 years earlier and the footage would be shittier than contemporaneous footage is over.
