What...do they not know how to act right? Do they have a behavioral problem?

There is a difference between tempting fate and being well mannered. OP needs to break that shite during a dessert run, say sorry, and tune out the next two hours of bitching from the old people.
Is a cheap arse vase a sign of weath? Does it protect you from the evil coming through the window at night? It’s odd. Do people do this with their Tulane degrees?

Break the vase and put a Christmas story leg lamp in its place. Who puts a vase in front of a window anyway?

Mine would break the fricking window and vase.

They have it on display like the leg lamp in the Christmas Story!

Maybe you should care? Back in the day breaking something at Grandmas house because of roughhousing/not paying attention would probably end with an arse whooping. What happened to respecting other people’s property, no matter what you might think about it.

My 4 year old would have broken that within 5 minutes of being there. He has no sense of awareness. He runs into shite when he is standing still.

This is my 9yo boy.
He eats cereal and it ends up on the floor twelve feet away from him.

On thanksgiving, I’m thankful for this post. I literally laughed out loud when I opened it. I feel it in my bones. I’m constantly telling my wife, “don’t set that there”

Had I have broken that at my grandmother's house when I was 4 or 5... I'd of had to go get my own switch for her to swat my backside with. I knew not to run around like a wild child and break stuff. It wasn't tolerated.

Two options:
1) kill it
2) stick it up your butt

That's what I'm wondering.
I mean, I get it if the kids "under 10" are between 1-3.5. O.k. That makes sense to me.
But if all of them are older than about 4-5 then this should be no problem and it's a perfectly reasonable expectation on the part of the in-laws for them to not break it.
I'll tell you this: my father would have had no problem with us kids at those ages breaking something like that after he pointed it out to us, instructed us on how to avoid doing so, and told us what would happen to us if we disobeyed and ended up breaking it anyway.

I'm thinking that's the biggest problem based on the information I have.

Yeah, I'm with you.
I see this supposed inability to keep children from breaking something like that as a parenting fail and nothing more.
