This is 100% the way I thought this would play out....

Happens all of the time there unless they truly have no need for you or they think they can fill your spot.

Keep going forwardd....but the trend will come back and hopefully you arent kicking yourself for sticking around

Yeah, it's a shame because I really like the job itself but the owner is just too much to deal with.

I've accepted that this is just their personality and it isn't going to change.

At least it sounds like the guy recognized he was being obnoxious and tried to be friendly

I had a similar situation where I was at a company for 9 years then around 5 or so opportunities came up.... I started to progress but it was always something changing in managment above that detoured my true progression....

before covid I took on bigger roles and was setup nicely...then covid hit 2 months later and even though I was doing the most to help the company during covid it kind of still was unnoticed so I began to just explore some... not really seeking jobs, but just browse... and 2 fell in my lap that were great. did not plan to leave, but allowed me to open my eyes to what was outside the box and see what other things I could do.

I would say do the same. Just browse and throw some apps out there every now and then when you see an opp come up that you think would fit..

Good Luck!

No you won’t . You will stay with your job because you aren’t worth anything relative to it.

If it was so bad you would have already quit I can’t stand a bitch like you that blames other people for your problems. You are a sorry piece of shite and the company will be better without you.

I’m sorry for telling you this shite, but it needs to be said. I work from management from 7am-8-pm at least. I love the shite. I love the stress. I love feeling like there isn’t anyway we can get the project done on time then pull it off because the team pulled together and made it happen at the last hour or making it happen by myself at the last hour. The point is that some people thrive in pressure and the others will fold

Yes, I am the boss.

I started off by washing Shute off people’s boots that nobody else would. If you work hard you will get noticed by the upper bosses. It might take longer then you thought, but it will happen and you will be repaid for your effort.

If you really want to stay at your current job you have to be open with the owner. You have to be honest and tell him what is going on. I hope he trusts you.

You have to explain in detail where the problems are coming from. You have to put it in a clear equation like the boss is drunk and at the casino.

If the boss is the problem then you have to figure out how to remove him or let him know he is a problem with other team members. This will be extremely hard, but you have to remember you have your employees back and want them to exceed.

Good luck

Tell me please.

I am the fricker you wish you worked for bitch. I am the boss that you wished worked side by side with you all day long and let you take credit. I am the boss that doesn’t give a flying duck if you work 25or35hrs a week as long as you get your shite done.

I am the boss that gives total control to you as long as you get the work done on time. I hope you have the freedom I spoke of, but I doubt it.

Been in communication and substation engineering since 1983. I’ve pretty much designed every Bellsouth, Motorola, GTE Mobilnet, Quest, Entergy, Southern Communications and several that didn’t survive the 90’s tech crash. I designed the Entergy/Ampirical substations on piers. I’m currently working on a $1.8 million Entergy building. I’m fricking tired. The boss just chewed me out about progress this week. I have structural issues because it’s on piers. Short answer is quit…retire…whatever. The stress isn’t worth it.

Umm with your experience and background just start your own business and get the clients. You can do it!

Your mission was to keep him on track. How was your fricking weekend? It was ruined by a bunch of Jr. High school girl-type, frantic emails.

Tell this mother fricker what it is that you don't like, and that you are done with tolerating it. Lay down the rules and stick to it. Don't let him distract you with shiny trinkets.

Not really. For some maybe. Most bosses will just use you for their benefit.
