Do it. . . Now
I wanted to go back 20 years ago and thought I couldn't afford it so I never did. Just ground along and made others rich - now I'm old and regret not going through with it.
Don't get me wrong, I've got a great life and family. I just regret not doing what I could have when the time was right.
Life is too short not to.

I'm not one of those lawyers who automatically responds to any question about law school with "Don't do it!", but if two of your top reasons for being a lawyer are (1) it has a title and (2) you don't like office work, then seriously, don't do it...

My obligatory career/school advice post:
1.) Go to Galvanize, or something similar, for software development
2.) Graduate in 12 weeks
3.) Guaranteed a job with an awesome starting salary
It is pricey but it doesn't get any better than the software industry. Profit and thank me later

What do you do? Serious question

DevOps Engineer, which is essentially a specialization within the bigger field of software engineering

Or go back and major in construction management. Then you can literally make banks.

If you go for nursing, you can work your way up while advancing through the educational levels.

Wife is a nurse at at rehab center for the elderly. A patient fell and split her head to the meat. Bloody mess. Wife had to administer care while the other staff members froze up. You want that?

most guys I know with engineering degrees have more stable jobs than those without one. It's a good degree to have.
Depends on the discipline. PETE and EVEG are kinda fricked rn.

Engineering is not fun at all, but UNO is better than LSU for someone older than 21

Agreed. ME, CE, SE, EE, and ChE seem to be hot right now.

Not quite. Depends on you're specialty, Waste Water, Water Treatment, Solid Waste are all fields that aren't going anywhere. But I guess it depends on where your degree is from as to whether those are considered Civil or Environmental.

I am all for someone completing their education if they didn't finish their degree, but it seems that people only out of college a few years see the only answer to not liking their job is to get a different degree. There are probably 10,000 other career paths you can embark on with the education you already have , many large companies are very flexible with their educational requirements for a lot of positions especially those that have in house training programs.

Everyone correct me if I am wrong. Besides medical (which may have a lot of paperwork, but maybe not at higher levels), which "titled" and high paying jobs aren't very office laden? FBI? Pathologist? Mafia? Most high paying, C-Suite jobs are very "sit down in an office, boring". Underwater welder comes to mind. So the active, high paying jobs that people respect will get you killed?

I went back to school after working for a while and ended up getting an engineering degree. I can tell you that it was a bitch to do, but I have never regretted it for a minute. I can also tell you that no matter what degree you get or field that you go into, you will be bored with it at times and frustrated with it at other times...you just push through it all to draw a paycheck and hopefully have a comfortable life.

I was pre-med and have realized med school is not worth the hell, money, and time. Doing something just so you're called "doctor" isn't worth it IMO. It sounds like you have a decent job right now, but i think you should also consider getting an MBA. I'm considering that so I can move into the management side of healthcare rather than practicing it.
