I have a 1 yr old and his favorite game to play is fetch with our big dog.

Of course his version of fetch is to hand the dog a toy, then when he lays down to chew on it, run over and rip it out his mouth and throw it away from him.

Thankfully our dog is nice and never gives more than a warning growl, but he’s gonna bite him one day and honestly my son will deserve it

Right now he’s running around with a piece of antler and actually throwing it at the dog/trying to shove the bone in the dogs mouth

My poor dog

He’s not gonna bite him hard. My dog knows how to interact with kids. It’s the teaching the kid how to interact with the dog part that we are working on

Replace “dog” with “wife” and it pretty much describes my life

before my dog passed away earlier this year, my son could do just about anything to her and she would just take it and exit the room when she saw an opening. My son was her puppy so where he was she was right there with him.

My oldest kids absolutely hates our two lap dogs. So anything he does angers both of them. One hides under the bed any time he is around.

My 3 yr old son got mad at the dog a couple weeks back for not being able to slurp his pasta like a human. Starting throwing noodles at his head. The dog was happy to play the victim in this case.

first off, RIP.

Secondly, its funny when you have an older dog as a close by companion to a young kid. The dog will generally always be by his/her side until the kid starts irritating it and you can usually tell in the dogs face that he’s like, “alright bro thats enough.” The dog will usually look at the parent and give you the look like, “alright dad this is getting weird.” I miss those looks my childhood dog would give my parents..

Edit: I was that kid who would “GOOOOOOD BOY!!!” Every two god damn seconds...

Nailed it

The problem is, my dog runs away about 5 feet and lays back down, and then my son just runs right back to them and it all starts over again. If he would just go jump on the bed then he would be safe

I have caught him hiding under my sons crib a couple of times. Then you put the baby down for a nap, can’t find the dog and realize he is still in the kids room hiding...

Our dog can be a mean little shite. When we have folks over I crate her to prevent anything from happening. One of my nephews is the king of instigators was over for a family function and, unbeknownst to me, kept teasing her through the kennel door. The dog finally had enough and bit 3 of his fingers enough to draw blood. Now he gives her a broad path.....lesson learned.

My 5 and 3 year old watched some cartoon about horses.

The dogs are now their horses.
