were watches ever worn just to tell time?
Watch "collectors" would have you think that. Women use the same excuse for having 30 different purses; "its not just to carry stuff."
Estrogen levels of both groups are equal.

Fax machines
It really blows my mind how many people still use fax machines. 15 years ago I would have bet anyone that it would not be a relevant technology today.

Typewriters, still a common fixture in federal/ state government offices, and a lot of law offices. Typewriter ribbon is available on Amazon, and there are still typewriter repair shops in most large cities

Sex shops that sell porn videos and toys like Mr Binkys and the Hustler Store. With the invention of the internet, red tube and amazon, why would anyone set foot in one of those places?

Fax machines are the very definition of bad technology. Their continued survival saddens me.

Jobs
It's 2014, damn near everything will be automated in the next decade. We should have a ten percent employment rate and be a society of musicians and poets by now. Most jobs are make-work bullshite that could be eliminated.

Watches are so much more convenient to tell the time than cell phones. A simple glance at the watch vs. taking the effort to pull out my cell phone? I'll choose the glance.
