People think that NK is shooting gotdamn Excaliburs every round out of their Indirect fire assets. In reality their indirect fire is wildly inaccurate and dispersed.

Am I the only one who looks at these maneuvers and escalations as childish behavior, that I'm a little disappointed the US takes so seriously and responds in kind?

I say that in complete acknowledgment of my ignorance on the matter. Just how it feels to me.

Everyone does. Its sabre rattling from a childish dictator. The military has to take it seriously but I think no one expects anything. They do stuff like this all of the time, especially during famine periods and the like.

NK is the most unstable nuclear armed nation in the world with a very unstable and homicidal leader so no I think our joint training operations with SK are very prudent. As far as the tit for tat escalations, cooler heads have prevailed so far

The question is, do we really know? Have you observed their fire? Now, with their subs in the area, do they have the capability to launch short range missiles capable of hitting runways?

Our HIMAD and SHORAD systems on the peninsula virtually guarantee that is an impossibility. That along with any sort of delivery platform that would involve a nuclear device.

Ship building would suffer a great blow as south korea is huge when it comes to ships produced for commercial trade.

If you seriously think that NKs 2-1 advantage in numbers means anything you are delirious. Also the devastation to Seoul you predict is greatly overstated. Our air supremacy would completely diffuse the situation within two hours.

Let's see...
quote:

North Korea experts Victor Cha and David Kang posted on the website of Foreign Policy magazine late last month that the North can fire 500,000 rounds of artillery on Seoul in the first hour of a conflict.

LINK

The good news here is that experst believe a good deal of their ammo would be duds ( LINK). But even there, the amount of carnage in Seoul would be substantial....

quote:

Of course, in large-scale military operations, optimal function is rarely attained. Witness the number of duds that will be fired. During North Korea’s shelling of Yeonpyeong Island, on the west coast of South Korea, the KPA fired over 100 rounds, 25% of which failed to go off. This is an astronomically high number, and not at all in keeping with modern artillery technology. If North Korean artillery fails to explode at the same rate it did in 2010, that would reduce the number of hits on Seoul to about 2,700 per minute, leading to Cavazos estimating about 2,800 fatalities for each minute at that rate of fire, assuming the majority of the population of the city is standing in open ground – meaning as many as 64,000 South Koreans could be killed on the first day of any attack.

What you posted makes zero fricking sense besides you trying to be a sensationalist.

There is very little open ground period in Seoul and people are hardwired and drilled from birth on what to do in case of attack from NK. Their won't be any people in open ground after the first minute I assure you of that.

Also your so called experts completely gloss over all the SHORAD assets we have on the peninsula for precisely this reason.

either you're a fricking idiot with no reading comprehension or you're just wanting to be a dick. For starters, I've never said they'd be able to level Seoul. And secondly, I've said more than once that as soon as their artillery opened up, they'd be inviting destruction. The only question is how long those batteries could remain operational before they're silenced. The problem will not be knocking them out. The problem will be there's so damn many of them it will take some time to get the job done.

and as for SHORAD, what the hell do you think it can do, shoot down conventional artillery rounds?

Economically, there is so much money to be lost by China, the U.S., and South Korea in a war between North & South Korea. I am betting a deal with China has already been cut regarding North Korean land/resources that the second NK goes off and tries to invade SK that SK, USA, AND China all jump on NK like wolves, tear that country apart, and divvy up the spoils. The world community won't do crap about it as they don't want WW3 and everybody knows NK has had this coming for a long time.

That's the way I would handle it with China.

You are a fricking idiot.

They'd be firing thousands of rounds per minute and your stupid arse thinks we can just shoot them down. I've seen a lot of stupid, ignorant shite posted here but that might top them all.

That is some far-fetched shite right there. So, China would play footsies with the US and SK? Have you been paying attention to their own little escapades in the S China sea and their crap with Japan?
