But in this situation California (the EU countries) have the upper hand.
Eta: they can already form trade deals with non EU countries. But most of their trade is WITH the EU. Only simpletons think you just pull the plug and things go on unaffected by Brexit.

Was it Britain or original town people that pushed to include the original Derry in N Ireland instead of Ireland by continuing to draw partition border along river Foyle?
I thought the original side is now mostly Catholic, but I am not sure if that was the case back in the 1910s-1920s.

Exactly.
Something as simple as the channel tunnel will cause billions of dollars in new tariffs on both sides if truckers can’t go from France to the UK and vice versa.
British airways will lose access to hundreds of EU airports that they have unconditional access to now.
But some guy from Alabama is going lecture us on these issues when they can’t even solve Clemson’s freshman QB on offense.

I don't think they are being vindictive. There are two negotiation styles that don't work with one another. The EU presented their best offer upfront, and has remained committed to that offer, as far as I'm aware. The UK wanted that offer to be the touching point of further offers, driving hard bargains, in order to gain further concessions. And it's been the UK that has floundered because the EU has no need to present further concessions.
