I gave up and will use family property in MS to register my license and cars. The LA dmv is fricking ridiculous for removing flags.

How do taxes on an auto work out in Mississippi compared to registering it Louisiana?

Law abiding citizens get fricked up the arse for a one day lapse of insurance while 70% of the denizens roll around uninsured no big deal whatever.

How would liability insurance help you if a tornado destroyed the vehicle…?

Im sorry, i guess i misspoke.. what i should have said is that i had bare minimum, basic insurance that didn’t cost me too much- in case of any event that might have led to the loss of my vehicle…. You are right, i would not have needed ‘liability’ insurance per se since I wasn’t actively driving the car .

The bare minimum is liability. You would have needed comprehensive coverage, the exact opposite of bare minimum, for the types of damage that would occur while you’re out of the country.

Laugh all you want bro.. i promise you, my insurance rate went far down from what i had been paying for full coverage, when i explained to my insurance company what i wanted for my vehicle while i was working overseas… You are arguing semantics, which makes you look kind of petty.. i am not an insurance company executive, thankfully- since I think there is a special circle of Hell reserved for them- so i dont know all the EXACT verbiage.. i just know that i had a policy for a while that was a lot cheaper and (ostensibly) protected me in the event that my car was damaged while in storage .

Even vehicles that are stored away, or ‘up on cinder blocks’ ? if true, then i guess i learned something today.. but obvs doesn’t make a ton of sense since - while you shouldn’t let the registration lapse- if you are not driving the vehicle for a while then you cant cause an accident .

If you havent surrendered the plate... Correct.

I've registered a vehicle and immediately requested no plate.

You can have the bare minimum limits for full coverage.

That means nothing here.

It’s the law because the tards that gather in BR to make laws… made it a law.

Basically think of it as an additional tax.

The level of Louisiana within the DMV is unsurpassed. I moved to S. Carolina for 2 years, came back to register the same truck after the move, and got hit with a fine for some admin reason. Had insurance 100% of the time, and they dug something up from 95 (keep in mind I had registered multiple vehicles in LA since then) and charged me a little under 300 for ... reasons.

Whatever your expectations are about LA public services, lower them fast.
