Watching the movie Psycho...

Anthony Perkins just stuffed Janet Leigh, a very large suitcase, a mop, and a mop bucket into the trunk of a 1957 Ford Custom 300.

He had room for more.

I opened thread thinking you were going to talk about how older cars were made and I was going to swing in and make a serial killer joke.

Thanks for saving me the time.

I once rode about 3 miles to Jimmy’s in the trunk of a Buick Century. Think we had 9 people in the cab. 11 people total. Doubt anyone was over the age of 19

I just saw Ted Knight as an uncredited extra in the movie.

Had to look it up on IMDb just to be sure.

I had a 1972 Ford LTD with a trunk easily capable of storing six dead bodies.
Not that I ever tested or anything

In high school I had a 67 Mustang I had been building to drag race. After I had the drivetrain in I took it to paint and the hood had to be cut to allow for the blower so I had to take it separately. I borrowed my uncles 1970 Impala. I was able to put the hood of the Mustang in the trunk and close it. Even then being used to large trunks I was amazed, I thought I was going to have to tie it down.

I will say despite the overall room in them older car trunks weren't nearly as usefully shaped as most of the ones today at least mid-sized and larger sedans.

The trunk of the 1970 Cadillac DeVille convert I had years ago was about as big as a shortbox on a pickup today.

Hell, they barely even put beds on pickemup trucks these days.
