Forests burning is part of the natural life cycle of forests.

Not necessarily in an ecosystem that is typically characterized by high humidity and high moisture.

Bull crap. A forest is a forest is a forest. All of them are the exact same.

I've haven't been able to find the info, but how much of the Amazon burns naturally each year?

Is this normal or abnormal?

Brilliant analysis. Unfortunately fires of this magnitude do not naturally or regularly occur in the Amazonian rainforest. It's not the same ecosystem as forests in the American West.

The forest will be fine, and I am more familiar with forests of the American South. No forest was ever destroyed by fire, and the effect of this fire will not be some global catastrophe that your usual media whiners are crying about.

So, forests that have very little in common with the south american rainforest?

I can’t believe I’m about to type this,

But if their idiotic opinions start a conversation and lead to action to stop slash and burn farming/ranching than its a good thing

Mother jones article but still made me chuckle. Most of the photos being shared of the “amazon burning” aren’t even current, or even the amazon

LINK

It’s just the cause du jour. they’ll forget about it when they find their next viral calamity next week

Crappy journalism and current fire aside, deforestation of the Amazon is still an actual issue.
