Is that mailbox illegal? Aren't there restrictions now on mailbox not being substantial size due to crash impactness, etc. I thought they had to be more "sacrificial". Pretty sure you can find something faulty with the size/setback of it.

the mailbox doesn't match the rest of the neighborhood. If they have an HOA, I'd file a complaint

If they don't want their fence damaged then they shouldn't put it somewhere that it is likely to get hit when the kids next door are playing football.

That's dumb logic.
If you believe the letter, the guy just doesn't want someone potentially damaging his property. I don't see how that is being unreasonable.
