This is amazing. It's truly baffling how stupid some people are.

One of the worst mistakes this country has ever made was setting the standard for voting at being 18 yrs old and having a pulse.

Reminds me of Hitchhikers Guide.

quote:

For years, the fabulously beautiful planet of Bethselamin increased its booming tourist industry without any worries at all. Alas, as is often the case, this was an act of utter stupidity, as it led to a colossal cumulative erosion problem. Of course, what else could one expect with ten billion tourists per annum? Thus today the net balance between the amount you eat and the amount you excrete while on the planet is surgically removed from your body weight when you leave; so every time you go to the lavatory there, it is vitally important to get a receipt.

Do you realize how much additional weight is on earth based on the current population versus say a 1000 years ago? Do you think it has had any effect? No
There are millions more lbs of food grown on the planet as well.

Conservation of mass is not merely a suggestion, it's the law.

no baw... we receive energy from the sun every day in the form of heat, but we don't receive any mass from the sun

To think about the amount of dust that has ever accumulated off the dead skin cells of Homo sapiens since the beginning of our time…I bet it’s enough to make a mountain.

That masato guy is wasting his time. There’s nothing he can say that will make them understand his point.

Actually he is correct. Anytime energy is added to a system the mass increases. Your car has every slightly more mass when it is moving at 100 mph vs sitting at a stop light and this is shown by the famous portion of the Special Theory of Relativity that he quoted. We have proven this experimentally by showing the large increases in mass for particle accelerated to near the speed of light.

So yes, every day the sun is adding energy to the Earth and so the mass of the Earth is increasing...sorta. The atmosphere of the Earth either by happenstance or intelligent design leaks a very similar amount of heat back into space so we sit in a dynamic equilibrium.

So yes higher energy states equal higher mass and so the sun is adding energy and thus mass constantly to the planet but we loose a very similar amount of heat and so mass constantly as well.

So you get an idea of how much energy is equal to how much mass just think of the mass of a butterfly. All the energy in the Hiroshima bomb explosion came from just .5 grams of mass being converted to energy ie the mass of a butterfly.

Please, for God's sake, tell me you don't have a college degree and spent high school sleeping through class.

The better argument would be the distribution of mass around the earth. Has enough of the mass shifted over thousands of years to different locations to impact anything?
