Been through that man. Son would just stop breathing for what seemed like minutes but was really 4 seconds or so. And from what I read its not uncommon.

Yeah, that's how it is with him.

I don't really remember specific events happening while im punching the steering wheel and ranting about 80% of the population that is on "autopilot."

However, the default opinion here should lean toward suspicion.

my mind simply will not default to the possibility that someone is capable of purposely killing their two year old child by leaving them in a car all day.

Well, I mean, in most cases that person WOULD be guilty

I say it is ironic because it is safer to have your child facing the rear,

No it isn't. That's a bunch of horse shite.
Give me one reason why it's safer?

I think it's cruel to leave a kid back there facing backwards. Like being in timeout or something. A 2 year old should be forward facing. If they can sit up and walk with ease, then they should be forward facing.

And I dont' know what 2 year old gets up in the morning, gets in the car and falls back asleep.
I sometimes want to turn around and tell my 2 year old to shut up most mornings b/c I can't hear Pomansky bitching about Tunsil smoking weed with the rebel flag behind him. But then I think to myself, I could be here alone, and if something ever happen to my little boy, I would miss the days of bringing him to and from school listening to him holler like a moron, so I just sit back and relax and enjoy it.

No one will convince me it's possible to leave their child in the car like that. It's either done intentionally, or something is wrong with you.

I mean I think about what I would do in the case of an accident and what I should try to do with the car that would give my kids the best chance to survive the crash. This is a common thought I have when i'm driving.

If it were me and if it were an accident, it doesn't matter. I'm going home and eating a bullet.

You would not be a good prosecutor, because it happens. Not saying this situation, but it's no secret that there are some people who are truly terrible parents/people. And the tough thing is that those are the ones who are reproducing at an exponential rate compared to the qualified parents.

I really don't see how someone could live with themselves after doing something like this...

We turned my son front-facing when he was two. Then, he got so big for his seat we changed him to a booster seat (when he turned 4).

As would I assuming there aren't two more at the house. But hey man, lets lighten this up. I'm about to put my 5 year old straight from the bus to the truck to go to camp for the weekend. It serves little purpose to fixate on misery.

Have a great weekend dude.

I do too.

It is recommended so I assume it is a safety concern.

Mine do it all the time. They're not morning kids and they have to be at daycare earlier than they'd like most days. Our "daycare" feeds them and dresses them so there isn't much going on in the mornings at my house on most days.

Because their heads are still too big for their bodies/necks and an accident that would cause whiplash like movement can cause serious head and neck injuries in a toddler. Rear-facing seats give more support to the head, neck and spine.

Well, I won't try then. But it happens and completely by accident.

Which direction the child faces, has nothing to do with it. Sitting in an infants seat, where they are reclined and strapped down more, will always be safer than an upright booster seat. kind of hard to get whiplash when you're pretty much lying down in a straight jacket.

The direction they face makes absolutely no difference. The seat they sit in does.
