The yearly budget doom and gloom

It's becoming a yearly tradition that I somewhat look forward to every year. If only they would switch to making a budget on money they actually have versus "anticipated revenue" perhaps we wouldn't constantly be in this situation
From the Governor's Twitter account:
TLDR: To stop the end of the world, we need you to be okay with the taxes we are about to levy on you.

Under these cuts, 80% of residents in nursing homes, seniors and those with disabilities, receiving long-term care would be forced out under HB 1. A responsible plan is on the table that will adequately fund these priorities and make $120 million in spending cuts. #lagov #lalege

Maybe they should cut other areas of government spending. Funny thing about government cuts and spending, they never cut bureaucracy but service.

The state government is like crawfish farmers. It's never a good year for the budget.
Historic receipts? Yeah, but do you remember how cold it was this winter?

The politicians and the whores will cry “Save us!”
And I’ll reply “No!”
And I’ll reply “No!”

Ours is awful. They've been kicking the can down the road for decades, and now they're spending reserves.
Many of them got booted last election, and nothing has changed.

Our state constitution is so fricked up. We need to blow it up and start over

The Democrats are exactly who they say they are - they want to up spending and raise taxes.
Our Republicans are just as worthless, as many were former Democrats, they switched parties and ran on non state issues like gun rights, abortion, and the "Obama agenda". These types got into office, and while they won't raise taxes, getting them to make substantive cuts is next to impossible because they all have some fiefdom to protect. It's maddening.

This is the real problem. So many things are protected from cuts in the constitution which is not what it was designed for. We need to start over.

Who was it that said LSU wasn't gonna be able to have a football program if we didn't approve some whacky budget?

Way to many statuatory dedications, inventory tax and local subsidies from the need to be reformed, and the boards and commissions need to be cut down and reformed.

I've aged to a point where being a D or an R is pointless. The arguments are pointless. The outrage is pointless. It's all by design... both sides pit the people against each other so the elected assholes can keep the game going. The game being power and money.

Yep, keep the plebes arguing amongst themselves over trivial issues so business can continue as usual up top.

Like this is going to happen
What about the 40% of the Louisiana population who lives 100% off of the Gooberment

How about they restore the taxes to whatever level they were at when the budget was balanced, and nothing more unless there is a demonstrated need.

Because it doesn't cover all the shite they added to the budget

We need to fund a task force to look into this matter.
