I was telling my wife while she was watching Independence Day programming on CNN and Fox that I am extremely embarrassed to be American now and that I really dislike this country now. More than anything, this is because of the pervasive bigotry against white Americans.

It's also because of the fact that the "elections have consequences" claim is apparently only half-true now. Regardless of what you think of Donald Trump, the reaction to him and the treatment of him since he won has been completely unacceptable. I had similar feelings about Obama, though the problems weren't severe enough to make me despise the USA like I do now.

of course not. They haven't been taught anything other than that America is bad and immorally founded on the back of slaves. They have been indoctrinated to believe this country sucks while not being told how much everywhere else really sucks.

Oh, I definitely would if it were easy to obtain citizenship in the countries I'd like to move to. That's the thing the "love it or leave it crowd" don't really understand. It's not particularly easy to pick and permanently move to another country.

Oh, I recognize the blessing to be born here. That's a different argument.

Which countries? I'm sure the OT would be glad to call in a favor or two.

These chicks are disgusting—actually, probably more just stupid. Speaking of stupid, read what you wrote up there again. I mean, really read it and try to comprehend what you are suggesting.

Theres a love it or leave it crowd?
My take is if you hate where you live and trash the country, leave then. Dont be somewhere you hate.

you're a bald faced fricking liar. People move out of the country for work and retirement constantly. Its not near as difficult as you want it to be, cause your really don't want to leave here. its just your excuse.

For the former, it's almost always a temporary work visa. Often times those people are able to eventually gain citizenship. Still, it's not particularly easy to obtain a job in a foreign country. It's not impossible though.

On the latter, in many countries the retiree is required to have a certain amount of retirement savings. I'll likely have that once I reach retirement age, but I've still got 20 years until that time comes, so that doesn't help me right now.

And honestly, I don't really want to leave until my kids finish high school. I don't really hate it here, just indifferent on being American. It's more about wanting to experience a different way of life for a while.

You could do that here, now, voluntarily.

But you will not give up your comforts.

This.

Spleen seems like he would rather lament what could have been, rather than do what is necessary to make it happen.

FWIW, I have been to over 60 countries and the list of potential places to retire to is VERY small for me.

In order:
New Zealand (not Auckland)
Ireland (not Dublin)
Fiji (Not Suva or Nadi)

That is it.

The rest that I have been to all have major issues at some level.

Put me in the column of believing that the US is the best place to live on the planet...period.

What's ironic is that by calling them out and sharing their video, he's spreading their message and giving them a larger audience.
